Verizon and AT&T have delivered 70 portable cell towers overnight and during the day today. For the first time since Friday, my son has cellular service at his home near the Suwannanoa area. There are still many residents unaccounted for simply because of roads impassable due to bridges washed away. My son who was originally going to come home to Georgia has decided to stay and help with the relief efforts. He told me that the residents there are working hard to reach those areas (by boat) that have been impassable due to bridges washed away and helicopters are dropping water and MREs. As of yesterday there were still 600 on the list as unaccountable.

Forgot to add, county officials have no time line on when internet services will be restored.

Thanks, bifenton! It's good to know she and her DH are okay. It still sounds rough with their bridge washed out and no power, but at least they're alive and well.
