I can't find the glass stove top cleaning post
So, am making another one. I wanted to see if the poster found a cleaner that worked for her. Today I went to Lowes to get some Ceramabryte that was mentioned in that post. They didn't have any. They had the other one mentioned most but only the bottles and I wanted a scrub pad that wouldn't scratch my glass. The young lady who walked me over to where they were, because their website took me on a wild goose chase down the wrong isle, pointed to Bar Keeper's Friend, and said she uses it on everything. I've used it before but not on a glass cooktop.
I didn't want to drive to Shelbyville or Georgetown, where they apparently had the original brand I was looking for, in stock. So, I bought the Bar Keeper's friend. I was going to order the Ceramabryte online, if it didn't work. It worked, though, except for a tiny area on the worst burner. The rest looks brand new again. I'm going to use it again after I use the stove the next time and if it doesn't all come off I may go hunt up a razor blade.
You can see the tiny amount of grime that didn't come off on the top circle.

Comments (16)My cleaning lady tried numerous different cleaning products on my black cooktop with no luck. I finally decided to try just baking soda and water. Next time my cleaning lady came over she couldn't believe the difference. It looked brand new! Still looks great and this is over a year later still using just baking soda and water. Sprinkle on the baking soda and spray/sprinkle on some water. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and wipe it off. Done! I've since replaced nearly all my household cleaners with just plain old baking soda and water. Comments (3)Clare, here is the recipe I use to make a crisp. My son makes this recipe as well and all his neighbours in BC love it & him. He keeps the neighbourhood well supplied. Rhubarb Crisp Base & top: 2 cups flour 1 ½ cups oatmeal 1 ½ cups brown sugar 1 cup butter, melted 2 tsp cinnamon Filling: 2 cups sugar 6 tbsp corn starch 2 cups water 2 tsp vanilla Cook filling until thick & clear. Turn off stove & add 8 cups chopped rhubarb. Coat rhubarb until all covered with sauce. Press ¾ of crumb mixture into 9x13 pan as a base, spoon filling in evenly, then cover with remaining crumbs. Comments (15)I haven't been on this site since my kitchen was finished last year, but this cloth finding was too good to keep to myself. I just had to share. My microfiber cloths came from the Wal-Mart automotive department. They are the only cloths I use for cleaning. The regular microfibers are great for windows, this one is better. I use the Weiman cleaner and conditioner about once a month or so. I use a dishrag for daily cooking splatter, but I dry it with the microfiber cloth for glass. I have the Maytag Gemini, with a double oven. The glass top nonskid surface literally feels like a rubber/plastic finish. Glass cleaner is NOT recommended. Anything else I have used, left streaks. Comments (5)I have a 36" BS RCS. I love it. My entire family loves it. Both of my teenage daughters ramped up their cooking because it's so much fun to cook with. My in-laws liked it so much they bought a BS platinum range top when they had to remodel due to a fire. It's wonderful to use, and easy to fix if something breaks (I haven't had an issue with anything breaking but our installer showed us how to replace ignitors which are supposedly finicky). The lack of electronics coupled with the open burners was a huge selling point for me. I can't comment on BS customer service because I haven't needed it. My RCS is 3 yrs old and it's worked fantastically from day one. The videos on the BS website are great for troubleshooting basic problems (like how to adjust your flame so it's great for the entire range from simmer to high)....See More- 2 years ago
