i know you can almost see this at Wake Island which is about halfway to Guam from Hawaii. But WI is ’where America’s day really begins’ since it’s a US territory.

Maybe by stretching the normal definitions you can come up with the US, as outside suggests. Or, by similarly stretching the definitions, the UK with its overseas territories would also meet the requirements.

On Annie’s picture thread I posted a photo of Colombia AND then Jasdip asked a question about that part of the world a few hours later. Yes, Panama.

Still thinking that it has to be Panama. It’s such a narrow and crooked piece of land between the Pacific and Atlantic.

On a side note: It is an interesting place to visit and of course the canal is amazing. I read David McCullough’s book The Path Between the Seas, which really explained what a fantastic undertaking it all was.

Rox - did you happen to take a ride on the Panama Canal railway? It is half owned by CPKC.

Lonejack, I did not know that. No train ride for us. We were in that part of the world twice, once was a cruise from Florida to Los Angeles, travelling through the canal. I’m sure the building of the railroad was just as monumental an undertaking as the canal was. It is very rough country there!

While those who are involved in the world of ships describe Panama as having a Pacific side and an Atlantic side (relative to the movement of ships), the north and eastern coasts of Panama are in fact on the Caribbean Sea and not the Atlantic Ocean.

To see sunrise, you need to be west of the body of water and sunset, east of it. Panama doesn't offer that described in the question, as I see the map.

Agree, Panama. It is so narrow and I guess there are mountains, so...
