Currently, anything related to summer.....watermelon, basil, sitting on the porch reading a book, playing a card game on the deck after having dinner outside. And I'd add a peach to my list, too!

Eating a fresh juicy peach is right up there. I would add being able to have all my windows open 24/7. I love the fresh air and the breezes. And the smell of a freshly cut lawn.

Looking at my beautiful indoor house plants…ponytail palm, zz pllant, many more kinds I have 24 throughout the hose.

Cooler weather, the breeze on my face as I walk out the door, to look at the flowers, and watch the birds, wasp, bees, butterflies... All in the sanctuary of my own yard. The sunrise over the lake as I go off to begin my day.

The sweet young worker who beat me to the punch, on Monday. A kind gentle lady, who was wheelchair-bound, asked me if I would get her a drink out of the cooler in the cafeteria. This cute young worker, was just doing his very best to be kind to the patient (and I think respectful to me, because I'm a little higher up the food chain there). He got her the drink, took her over to the cash register, carried all of her stuff over and put it all in a bag so she could carry it. She smiled at both of us, but I had to say I certainly smiled back at both of them. Most enjoyable!

I enjoyed being the person my adult child turned to today when they had trouble, and I was able to come up with the solution. I don't always get it right, but it mattered today, and I did.

Life is good

Right now, Christmas in July. Wearing my Christmas shirts, playing Christmas movies on my projector at work, and seeing peoples faces light up when they see it as well. So much fun.

Corn on the cob roasted on a charcoal grill. Just had some and it was delicious.

My cat Aspen was watching a little mouse in the iris bed. I picked Aspen up, he started kneeding my arm, making biscuits.......happily. So darn soft and cute!

July is day lily month in my garden.

The simple joys of life for me happen in the month of September when all of the tourists are gone and we are rid of the dangerous gridlock of traffic and can move about freely again.. Two fatal accidents today on Rte. 6.

Oh dear, Seagrass, that’s sad. When i used to go to the Cape, Id go after Labor Day.

I went to a farm today and bought, among other things, a bouquet of zinnias for myself.

Son home for a few days this week. Temps down into the 80s with a cool breeze today. I actually went out for about a half hour this evening and deadheaded some flowers. We got some rain the other day so didn't have to water the garden today.

Lunch today was mostly from the garden, except the sea bass: corn on the cob, grilled zucchini, eggplant and okra, and some fresh tomatoes. Black Krim tomatoes are ripening now.

The annual visit to a lake town with a dear friend, but the simple pleasure of it, amidst the lakeview lunch and window shopping, is the lakeshore stroll, away from the bustle, on rustic paths, with the old lake ”cottages” one one side and the glistening water on the other.

I am enjoying my two summer favorites, fresh tomatoes from my garden and fresh peaches from the orchard not far from our house. We go there once a week and buy a new basket of whatever variety they have.

We always came to the Cape in the third week of September. The traffic was bad even then. I can't imagine now. ...I guess I can say that this is the first day I've been to the trail in a week since we were near 100 degrees for the past eight days and only 86 today.

Lying outside in the hammock at dusk, watching the birds settle in for the night, my dogs at play and the sky darken.

Having it cool enough on a summer day to sit on the screened in porch with my cat on my lap and watching her watch the world.

I received two replacement batteries for my two Honda Ruckus scooters. I can start them easy now. I like the temp dropped to 70’s, I don’t have to change clothes 4-5 times a day like in the 80’s.

The research administration team has a yearly team building event, which happens at one of our team member's house. We sit around the pool and brainstorm about things and hash things out... Had a lot of fun, and have figured some things out. And that was today. A little bit of happiness? That it was today!

There were reports all over work that Microsoft was down and nobody could get into any programs. We made progress on the day that everybody else had to go home early. I hear we're back up and running. A healthcare system needs to be up and running, so I'm glad it worked out.

There you go, a twofer. What a crazy day computer wise.

Going out to my backyard and cutting fresh flowers to bring indoors - three small white limelight hydrangeas, a handful of pink huechera blooms (light and fluffy) and some daylily strappy leaves for greenery. Arranged in a small (supposedly crystal) vase I bought at a garage sale a few days ago. The lady said it was crystal; I’m not actually sure but it’s heavy and at least LOOKS LIKE crystal. Good enough for me and it makes me smile.
