Totally hijacking here I have a 40" 8 shaft Toika Eeva countermarche floor loom from Finland. A 27" Louet, Jane, 8 shaft table loom on a stand, from Holland. I just resently brought home 60" counter balance LeClerc, Canadian, floor loom, Mira, with 4 shafts. I have woven lots of family gifts. I wove a wool and mohair blanket double width weaving for my DS2 and DIL2. It came out 100"x70" and fits on a queen bed. I also wove a smaller wool blanket that DD1 uses as work to keep warm in her cold office. I don't have a picture of my DD1 blanket, but i submitted it to the Iowa State Fair and got 2nd place in the blanket division. The blanket below wasn't done in time to submit. But it was done for the wedding. Wedding Blanket, fuzzy mohair: ETA this closeup of the tassels: Wedding Shawl out of silk and merino wool: Closeup of the random tassles in silk and wool. In this pic the tassles still need trimming at the ends. This picture makes me want to just scrunch it up to my face, lol

Sarah, Oh my goodness, how happy I am you found this thread. Your mother spoke of you and your brother often. She was very proud of you both, and she thought you were a spectacularly wonderful mother to your sons, whom she adored. I am so very sorry your mother suffered this past summer. Your mother's strength of character and goodness shone through in all her posts; whether she was discussing something trivial or serious, one could sense her integrity. As for her style, well, her taste was unerring, classic and fresh. She taught me a very important concept when discussing interior photographer Oberto Gigli's house in Turin on a thread a few years ago. "Well it just works," she said. I pray you find comfort in these difficult days. Losing one's mother is always terrible. Your mother told us about how much you, your brother and your younger son did to make her final months more bearable. Thank you for stopping by on your mother's birthday. I wish you peace as well. -Zalco PS Of course you have Glacier White Corian!

Spring, I would only call someone rude when I'm online because they are humiliating a real person. They don't get that there's someone with a heart who had no intention of hurting someone. This is the type of message board where rudeness is frowned upon. Martinca, when I joined Houzz the bullying was really bad. If the Leader of the Bullies began the insults the rest would jump in and not one person had the guts to stand up to them. I'll never forget my first post on our brand new stone mantel and all I asked was how to decorate it. "Tear it down." What rudeness. lol But I was too scared to say anything so I cried the rest of the day. Thank God that behavior and the many posters who chimed in are GONE.

"Toronto vet, the world you're describing is completely different from my lifetime of experiences with colleagues, friends and their children, my children and their friends, etc." So........what's your point? The plural of anecdote isn't data. The experiences being exposed in these articles/studies are completely different from my lifetime of experiences too......However, you seem believe your experiences are representative of everyone else, regardless of what others are telling you, whereas I believe my experiences indicate I've been fortunate and privileged, and I've learned that many women have many more challenges than I do in their workplaces. I don't let my experiences negate what studies show other women are experiencing.
