We've grown that and really enjoyed it. We also love Cherokee Purples.

Growing them again this year, but haven't in many years. The last few years I've been growing Cherokee Purple. None this year.

I no longer grow my own tomatoes, but our local farmstand has several heirloom types, including Black Krim and Cherokee Purple every summer - YUM!! The heirlooms definitely have the best flavor IMO. It's early up here for them, but I am already anticipating the feasting. And salivating at your photo!

Black Krim is a very tasty tomato, indeed! But I gave up on heirlooms a while ago -- just no point, they end up a diseased mess, after two good ripe tomatoes, three if I were lucky, the whole plant would collapse in a diseased, decaying heap on the ground. Pretty much all heirlooms, not just B.K. Too bad, too -- the flavor of some of the heirlooms is outstanding.

Sadly, I always had low production with Black Krim in my garden. Was pretty much the same with Cherokee Purple, but then I discovered the heirloom marriage that produced Cherokee Carbon. It's my go-to purple tomato now.

I grow Black Prince tomatoes and I think they are divine. I always grow a red one, a yellow one, and a purple one. I also always grow one of each in the cherry/pear varieties too. My SO prefers yellow tomatoes.

A bit envious here - my tomato season was over in May, and I also can't grow heirlooms here any more. I had some success years ago, but now there are just too many pests and diseases for them to survive. Best one I grew was Hillbilly.

I only grow Sweet One Million and new to me this year BHN 589 VFFT Hybrid tomato that grow well in Kansas. We have not hit tomato season here yet. I tried to grow heirlooms in past years and did not have much luck. Then I found a nice roadside stand for tomatoes and corn, and she has lots of heirlooms. I get one of each heirloom and really put them to the taste test. Black Krim is my favorite so far. Heirlooms are for salt and nothing else, except an tomato sandwich, and other tomatoes for BLT with Peanut butter. Try it, you'll like it. Tomatoes are my favorite thread.

I love some of the heirloom types and they are expensive to buy fully grown and ripened at the store (even farmers markets). I like at least one plant of a less sweet, more acid tomato too - for just plain eating I like a less sweet taste once in a while. My tomato tastes may be a little weird, I like a paste type even if I'm not making sauce (less seed, juice, more firm).

I have a heck of a time growing tomatoes though and really may need to talk DH into that unheated greenhouse I've been eyeing. Our deer like tomatoes. Not just the plants, I could allow them a bit of foliage occasionally, but end of the season last year they were going for the fruit. I had a nice crop of almost ripe plum type in pots on my deck off our bedroom, never dreaming the deer would go up on the deck. Not only was every tomato eaten not quite ripe, but she knocked a pot over and scared herself, leaving hoof marks on my cedar deck that are still there today.

I'm enjoying San Marzanos found at Trader Joe's this week, how I'd love to grow them but at their height (6-8') I have no place to grow them protected from our 4-legged critters.

There's a fence around the raised bed. And insect netting around one of the plants. I also have a mini pumpkin and chili peppers in there. Something nips at the top of the squash plant, but most of it stays intact. 🤞🏻
