I would widen the turn area down to the dotted line in the pic. I would consider changing the 3 inside corners to curves for a more graceful appearance. Also, I would not add the sidewalk until people walk the path for awhile and find out where they really want to walk.

We too will be having a layout very close to yours (someday). I'm a stickler about symmetry too so I totally understand where you're coming from about the sink being in the middle. Having the entire kitchen in symmetry and only the sink off center seemed off. The more I thought about it though we finally moved it off-center like Taggie suggested with the DW on the end with the sink next to it. Your eye will naturally fall to the back wall with it's perfect symmetry of windows and vent hood. The sink is in a sense out of sight since it's on the flat surface and only takes up about 6 square feet of flat space. Your eye mostly goes to the vertical surfaces of the room (windows, cabinets, vent hoods) and secondary to the flat surfaces (cooktops, counters). The only thing that will be noticed much will be the skinny stem of the faucet. Even a goose neck is small in comparison to everything else that is going on in the kitchen. I will have almost a 10' wide island, with a 24" DW, 36" sink, 18" pull-out trash, and a 36" base drawers. I can't tell if you have a pull-out for your trash on either side but perhaps you do. Bottom line, I would move the sink and make sure I had a pull-out trash.

I posted during your first round of discussions - my finished kitchen has a layout fairly similar to what you're considering. It's a great work triangle for me, even though ours is a corridor galley with a ton of through traffic. Ours was only about 91" wide, so we recessed a CD fridge about 15" and opted for reduced depth lowers on that side. That gave us a 48" aisle which is perfect. We also hung a GE spacesaver microwave on that side, which is incredibly functional. We have uppers on both sides and it doesn't feel closed in at all, perhaps because we opened one narrow end to another room - so the overall difference in terms of openness was already pretty dramatic. Since you asked, I'd make one suggestion - if you can swing 48" between the sink and range, you'll be even happier. I have 36" now, and it's fine, especially since I have an overly large sink with a cutting board on top and I prep over the sink. But if I could have eked another 12" out, I would have done it in a heartbeat (it wasn't possible for me due to a support post for a load-bearing wall that was opened.)

IMO the sectional is too big for the space and it has areally poor seating for such a big piece you really only have 3 seats that are even remotely comfy the recliner part takes away any hope of a coffee table and the TV could be mounted on the FP to the keft with an articualting arm and 2 sofa and 2 chours would make a lot more sense for seating. This is reall y a small space with just too big a piece of furniture
