What the Easter Bunny Taught Me (heavy pics)
Comments (14)Karen, opps, we must of been typing at the same time. Sweet picture, made me bust out loud laughing. TJ is #252/2000 so there is alot like her out there. Luvs, DD does like to shop and then watch me smile. I'd like to think she inherited this from me.LOL OA, are you planning on sharing with us how your using the poem? The bunny has pink tulips and green stems painted on 'her'. Creek, my heart is still sad after reading your post about DD tonight. Hang in there and know we are all praying for you and yours. Jane, I don't think I'm much of an Energizer Bunny any more. Seems like I require more rest than I use to. I haven't had time to do any more decorating but will try to share a few more pictures of what I've decorated this weekend. Will miss your wonderful Easter table and decor this year for sure. Candy, it's so amazing how the enablers here have helped us increase our flatware as well as dishes and decor. I tell myself no more until I go shopping again.Darn It's fun to match flatware on our tables tho, don't you think? I will try to get more pictures taken and posted. Can't believe how time flies. Thanks so much for lookin and commenting! All your sweet comments are so appreciated. Know I care even if I don't get back here to comment in a timely mannor. Hope to see how some or all of you talented ladies use the poem. Punk...See MoreWhere to get bathroom rugs and towels?
Comments (21)We do not use fabric softener and dryer sheets. I cannot stand the scent and the feel on the fabric. We also do not use liquid detergent, we run vineger and water through wash cycle to clean the washer monthly. I use microfiber towels to dry hair too. I collect vintage jewelry made of precious metal. I found microfiber towels are great for drying jewelry after being cleaned. Many thanks to all of you for the responses....See MoreHonesty please.....to select a blue for my bedroom
Comments (47)Oh my, I had no idea y'all were still tweaking with my room....wonderful ideas, too! I've spent the last week steaming and stripping off the wallpaper beneath the chair rail. There was damage to the walls behind the paper that a contractor had done and just papered right over, and this was my opportunity to finally fix it. I've replastered all the gouged areas and sanded down all the sheetrock beneath the chair rail. Now that the surface beneath the chair rail is repaired, it's back to the original white color that we first painted the entire house. Already looking better than all yellow walls. As much as I love the blue walls, like those shown in the photos that oceanna posted, (thanks oceanna, you don't know how much I've pondered over all your gallery contributions), I've decided that the best way to bring in the blue I like is through bedding, accessories and pillows. I just haven't found a blue wall color that I'm comfortable with, and believe me, I've searched all over. I went on a search yesterday afternoon, and was instantly put off by the fact that our local BM paint store wasn't open on the weekends. I'd stopped in there once before, (during the week, apparently), and wasn't impressed with the attitude of the fellow working there. He just wasn't helpful at all and seemed totally uninterested in selling paint. Their being closed yesterday clinched it. Just around the corner was Sherwin Williams, open 'til 6 and with the most helpful staff. I walked out of there with my toile pillow and a handful of chips that matched the yellow and white shades I was looking for with a smile on my face. If you've read this far.....lol!....I will tell you that I've decided to do a SW creamy white beneath the chair rail, and a SW softer buttery yellow above. The bedskirt will be a Waverly blue/yellow/white plaid and I'll find another blue and yellow throw or quilt for the end of the bed. Going to Penny's for that search, thanks Piper! I'm changing out the pillows to add white Euro shams with yellow pillows and a blue bolster type pillow. Looking for small blue accent rugs for the floor. Plan to build fabric covered cornices or pelmets for the windows to take advantage of the 9' ceilings and raise the eye up above the windows - that way I can keep the curtains, which I love. I'm also adding white trim to the top of the curtain flounce. Whew! If you are still reading, thank you all! Your ideas and suggestions have been fantastic and the room will eventually transform into what I was wanting all along!! Heidi...See MoreDo you have a rug in front of your kitchen sink?
Comments (56)Jen, your oven thermostat can be recalibrated or perhaps even replaced, most definitely! IIRC you live relatively close to an urban area - try calling around to appliance repair companies to ask who in your area works on old stoves and doesn't just say to throw them out. Emphasize its sentimental value - if you don't object to a "little white lie" you could say you inherited it from Grandma or something. (Well, you inherited it from someone's grandma anyway, when you bought the house! Right? :-)) You might also want to check out The Old Appliance Club, which rebuilds thermostats and locates replacement parts, although you'll still need a local person to actually put it in. I have the hots for Mary Lu's sink. Big time. When we were starving college students, DH and I once rented part of an 1800s farmhouse where the entirety of the kitchen equipment was a freestanding double-drainboard sink almost exactly like Mary Lu's, a stove that made AuntJen's look ultramodern :-) a somewhat random old refrigerator that sounded like a jet engine, and a built-in hutch about 3' wide. That was all. No cabinets, no counters. We prepared everything on the kitchen table and stored the dry groceries on bookshelves in the living room! Oh, and the bathroom consisted of a toilet in the corner of the kitchen. Just standing there in the corner of the kitchen. LOL The week before we moved in the landlord boxed it in and added an RV-sized shower, which is all that would fit. The lady who had the apartment before us had lived there for over fifty years and was perfectly content to wash with her old pitcher and bowl, so landlord wasn't going to go fooling around in there. (I think she came with the house when he bought it!) She had decorated the apartment (except for the kitchen, which was from somewhere around 1900-1910) in 1940 and it was virtually untouched when she died in 1994 and we moved in....See MoreOutsidePlaying
