Bachelor pad style. Is there such a thing?
Comments (8)I read your post, and looked at the pics in cotedetexas...but I didn't read all the text on her blog to see if she was trying to make a particular point. I'm just going off your question. I just think the difference is not really a Euro thing...it's showing an extreme contrast between personalities. I know a few well-off single guys with their big SF homes who still have the spartan "pad". These guys spend $$ on and make focal points out of the things they love...tv's, electronics, comfy overstuffed leather, etc. They try to decorate around the big boy toys. Creating an overall homey and personal vibe is not the focus...it's more about experiencing and getting vibes off the boy toys. Gosh, sounds like I'm bashing men & that's not my intent. As for the "Euro" pics, I just see those as nice examples of masculine-themed decor...done with the same thought & planning as any other high-end decor photo shoot showcasing a particular look. I don't really associate them with a European mindset. So, is there such a thing as Bachelor Pad Style? I'm sure there is. I think we just saw examples of the 2 ends of the extremes....See MoreBachelor, Good Looking, Weekend Free
Comments (34)At least it didn't get as hot as predicted. If we didn't need the rain so desperately it would have been near perfect the last couple of days. Around 30C with a light breeze, my ideal temps. Too good to be indoors. Now for some of that rain (without the cold) Got my fence up and spread several barrow loads of compost, tidied up the kids vegie gardens, fed and topped up mulch on various vegies, strawberries, pumpkins, etc and set up a watering system for some of the vegies. As for reading material, I like "who done its" and similar mystery types. Just finished Jonathon Kellerman's Therapy Saturday night. Not bad but a little slow. Have some more Kellerman to read yet, hopefully they're at least as good. I don't mind Kathy Reichs but Jeffery Deaver would have to be my favourite at the moment....See MoreFrom bachelor pad to green velvet sofa
Comments (9)what a pretty place!! the fireplace, the shelving..oh my you gravitate to more modern glam-a bit-boho from what I read-so yes, your coffee table, TV console and, lastly, dining table are in a bit of a dissonance..a bit too rustic. also they have to be bigger. But not bulky visually, at the same time. (to the light, I'd get last unless I stumble upon something I love-because currently it kinda goes with everything. But you need to love your lights, no question. you can go any direction with the light here-the bones are handsome, the light is like jewelry that can be modern or taditional, stark or fancy) what's the budget? you have this great site there..not on the high street..it's huge..https://www.notonthehighstreet.com/home you also must have Anthropologie, right? you also have my favorite envy-https://www.rockettstgeorge.co.uk/ (the prices are allover) I'd look for a bit of metal. maybe a bit of stone or glass, a bit of woven texture to tie it all to the kitchen.. here are their side and coffee tables for example..I hesitate to make specific suggestion without knowing the budget https://www.rockettstgeorge.co.uk/furniture/tables/coffee-side-tables/show/48.html...See MoreBachelor pad in Mexico City
Comments (16)I love it I've never been to Mexico yet. I seriously want to go someday. To Mexico City and some other cities..I don't recall the names right now. I saw them on TV..)) We've been to Costa Rica.. Nicaragua (Granada and several pueblos)..I'm not sure whether islands count? We stayed in some boutique hotel in St Lucia-everything was made by local crafstmen and artisans, one of the most memorable places in terms of design I've been to. Yes I'd gladly go there, and not once, if I'm fortunate to do so. I'd love to visit other countries too. I learned many new things there, and it's fascinating how architecture, design, colors inform of history etc In Granada for example no one's allowed to change their older house's architecture-it's one of the oldest cities in Northern America so they try to keep it as intact as possible. (was numerously rebuilt as it was often left in ruins by pirates etc) So in order to have fun and to change, they have a custom of repainting their facades every year. Usually on New Year's. The colors are pretty vibrant. So one year one can say "My house is a green one to the left side on street such and such"-but next year, it's pink or yellow or blue.. That's a bit of OT, probably Anyway, all that region is very interesting, and the more one sees and learns the more one wants to go there again....See Moreeld6161
