what brand of central vacuum do you have and do you really use it
Comments (3)When we bought our home we gutted it and renovated. It had a sad old CV so I immediately replaced it with a brand new BEAM system. Great suction. However, having never lived with a CV I didn't realize how much I would hate it. I absolutely hate lugging a 35' hose around. If you get it out for a major clean session that's one thing but with two small kids I need to vacuum messes all the time. The hose would live lying on my front hall. After 10 years of this, I went out and purchased 2 Miele vacuums (one upright and one canister). I love my Mieles! They are small and easy to pull out and put away quickly. They have exceptional suction and the tools are excellent. Wouldn't trade them for anything right now. After getting the Mieles I realized that the powerhead with my BEAM CV did not do nearly as nice of a job grooming my upstairs broadloom as the new Mieles do. BIG difference that is very noticeable. If you do get a CV, I would invest in the best tools available....See MoreWhat brand of sherry do you use?
Comments (30)Jessy--I make teriyaki sauce with pineapple juice, brown sugar, a little soy sauce, sherry, garlic and ginger. Finely chopped green onions if I have them. That's what I came up with years ago when trying to copycat a dish that I had in a restaurant. Took me a while to stumble onto sherry as being the missing ingredient for the recipe I was trying to duplicate. May be that it's wrong but, what the heck, I like it! I've never tasted mirin. Will look for it the next time I have to ferret out a bottle of sherry. I've noticed quite a few recipes that call for it. I'm not into wine much at all--slowly starting to use whites & reds for cooking. Don't care to drink it at all. Except for Asti Spumante or a white mixed w/ Sprite for a wine cooler....See MoreWhat brand of pots and pans do you use?
Comments (27)kkay..no this is my wild yeast bread that is a sourdough. Takes 2 days to make it and another day to feed the starters. My DH made the Sullivan bread a few times when it first came out but since we do my wild yeast starters he has stopped . bumble and kkay:I will link to the site that teaches how to make your starter and the recipe list that she has. There are a bunch of pics on the Kitchen At Work thread that I started the other day on Kitchens. I made a slide show for bread and bagels. You can check over there. The breads I did there were 3 different ones from the one above. Here is the link. Let me know if you have questions . I love to have converts to sourdough wild yeast :) Go to her recipe file. She has a tutorial for the starter. Also the bread above is her More sour sourdough. Here is a link that might be useful: wild yeast blog...See MoreWhat brand make up do you use? The thread
Comments (30)oooh didn't even see the question about drying, sorry! I have to agree with Mammie's post. I do sometimes use a regular moisturizer (in the winter, when the humidity's not so bad) but I let it soak in completely before I put on my minerals. My skin really does look the best it ever has, I'll have a few hormone related breakouts every now and then, but my pores are smaller, the texture's as even as it's ever been, and my oilies are under control. OOOH also, for those of us that us the mineral makeup, found a "hot" tip - after you've done the "once-over" with your foundation, warm your brush slightly with your hair dryer and buff again. You won't believe how much smoother it is, it helps it just melt and blend right together. I find I can use even LESS minerals doing it this way. april...See MoreSeniorBalloon
