MDF is much better. Wood will warp over time, especially in a kitchen where it is exposed to steam, heat, and water. I can't speak to those brands, though, sorry!

I think the Diamond cabinets are a good value for the money. In 2007, they were dinged by Consumer Reports because they skimped on their cabinet boxes. It appears that they have rectified this problem, so they are a lot more sturdy than they used to be. If you can find the finish and door style that you are looking for, then they might be a good option for you. I think that they have a lot of "gadets" too. They make a 3-inch spice pull-out rack that you can't find with all of the manufacturers. Right now, HD has a deal where you can get 50% off the painted finishes, a free sink base, and cash back depending on how much you spend. I would stay away from the Chinese cabinets. They often advertise ridiculous low price specials to pull you in, but the quality, fit, and finish is not worth it in my opinion. You are better off going with stock American-made cabinets or IKEA cabinets if you want to lower your cabinet costs.

Eons better finish on Shiloh. Homecrest is a fancified builder grade. Not mid grade.

Kraftmaid has a lot, if I had to guess, is because they are in Home depot and Lowes....and I would bet, most of the issues if from poor customers service by the store....not the cabinet manufacturer. KraftMaid has had their ups and downs since I first started carrying the line back in 1990. But today, they are great! We have very few issues. All cabinet lines will have some issues. KraftMaid, IMO, is a great company with a longstanding history...and they are great with warranty issues. We've had Shiloh for many years now too....it's our number 1 line at our store. And we have very few issues. All cabinets can have a nick or ding. It's the nature of the industry when shipping cabinets hundreds of miles, especially painted products. But we overall like this line very much....especially for their inset cabinets. Great price. Shiloh also offers a lipped door overlay. If you want a partial overlay that looks vintage....check out that style! Very few cabinet lines do this style anymore!!! In fact, Shiloh is the only one that I know of! Very mid-century modern.....or 1920s-30s look!!!
