50 20 yr olds for New Years. Food ideas?
Comments (36)For our big halloween party we usually have 50 to 80 people. I usually make a crockpot of meatballs (amongst other things), but make a Swedish meatball type sauce for it. Just yesterday a friend contacted me for the recipe for the sauce for a party he's having this evening. Bob's "Swedish" Meatball sauce Ingredients: 1 stick of butter 4 medium onions chopped fine with food processor 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup medium dry madiera 3 cups strong beef stock 2 cups half-and-half 1 Tbsp Worchestershire sauce Melt butter in large pan over medium low heat, add onions and cook and stir for 15-20 minutes until onoins are nearly caramelized. Add flour and stir until the flour is absorbed into the butter, and cook for another minute or two. Next stir in the Madiera, then the beef stock, and heat to a simmer for a few minutes to thicken the sauce. Next use a stick blender to puree the sauce smooth, and add the half-and-half and Worchestershire sauce. Pour over heated meatballs in crockpot on low....See MoreHanging bulb fixture in 90 year old house: how to get more light?
Comments (8)There's something seriously amiss if the wire it getting that hot from an ordinary light bulb and the primary concern would be that overheating could lead to a fire. Not to mention that fixtures hanging from wires isn't such a good idea either. If she can't afford to get it fixed properly, it might be best to avoid using the light and investing a flashlight. Your friend might also consider talking to her pastor or leader of any groups she might be involved in. Certainly she has marketable skills and perhaps there's an electrician that would be willing to barter....See MoreCountry Living-House of the Year 2014:The Ultimate New Old House
Comments (39)Many times people complain that the items shown in a Show house are all to-the-trade and not affordable to the masses. It seems this house has gone in the opposite direction and lowered the price point to the Cost Plus World Market level. I would take a guess that they were the major sponsor for the project! The mid level design market that falls between low cost Chinese made goods and custom to-the-trade-only goods, seems to have disappeared completely. At least that has been my experience while remodeling and decorating my house the past 4 years. That was a strange show house project!...See More120 year old house living room ideas
Comments (16)Some great ideas!! Thank you!! The rug cannot be moved in any other position - covering the hearth slightly is the only way it fits in the space. Its a uniquely sized room and we downsized when moving here :) I want to add color, but in a way that it works with what I already have. I was thinking maybe some light blue or gold to tie in with the rug? Not sure how to add color other than pillows and throws. I like the idea or art or a mirror over the fireplace and art above the chair. Would you suggest using the art to bring in those colors?...See Moresambah006
