Paint scheme for 1980s "rock" star ranch - Help!!!
Comments (5)is this florida? it actually fits the area if it is. so you want to tone down the blue? fist thing I'd do is replace that orange/red mulch w/either black mulch or white rock let me show you what changing that orange mulch to black does, plus giving you a new door that matches your windows. all you have to do is tone down that aqua. or go with more of a grayish tone I really like this combo too. Pale yellow for the door, chelsea on the body, and white trim. I also like any of these combos. dark door, Storm on the body you have black windows and gray roof, so no reds or browns or oranges....See More1980's Brick Ranch - Exterior Facelift
Comments (0)I can't believe we are doing it.....but.....we are selling our 2600 sf craftsman and moving around the corner to a 1500 sf 1980's ranch. Hello downsizing! Majority of the budget is consumed by the interior update and back porch addition. Painting the brick is not a option...at least, not now. I have a few ideas for a facelift and would appreciate advise/opinions. Remove tiny porch columns and railing. Replace with three cedar (stained) columns. Replace storm door with a cedar (stained) storm door. Definitely remove shutters from window under porch (wrong size) I'm not sure about removing all shutters. I don't think the existing shutters are the correct size. But I am concerned that removing them would make the home too plain. I would like to add cedar window boxes...I think. :) Shingles are dark grey. I really need help with paint colors for trim. I am considering removing the window muntins and painting the window sills black (inside and out) and trimming with a creamy white. Yikes! Make me nervous!! The windows are all wood and in excellent condition. If I keep the shutters, what color? Charcoal, Dark Blue/Navy, Olive Green? Of course, the landscaping will be redone. I really need some advise on exterior color choices and some of my ideas. I love this little ranch. She is so adorable! My style is mostly transitional - nothing too trendy....See MoreNeed Help with Ranch House Exterior Paint Colors
Comments (8)Thank you all for your help. Yes cat_ky, the house has been ignored for 25-30+ years. I grew up in the house and just took it over -- I look forward to giving it new life. So Color Zen and cat_ky, would you do the entire house in the blue-green/grey combo or would you make the horizontal siding and garage door white (is that considered trim too)? And by minimizing the corbel, should I just paint it whatever the background color is? I definitely am planning on getting rid of the shutters! HU-187528210, I considered painting it all white, but I can't remove the stone and my neighbor next door has an all white house that is much nicer than mine. I am doing the inside in a bright white though! Thank you all again for the valuable feedback....See More50s Ranch House exterior paint help!
Comments (6)thank you Beth! I definitely had a laugh at your "Beige really?" comment! We tend toward warm neutrals, and initially we'd thought to just paint it a different beige with undertones that go with the yard better (it's definitely yellow-y at the moment), before deciding to go lighter. We aren't big fans of grey. I quite like the second photo, but again we run into a situation where a house two doors down already did the white/wood/black trim route, so I'll have to think on how to make it stand apart. The color scheme you worked up for the inspo photo is awesome! I think I'll try to get samples of Divine White and Jasper Stone and see how it looks :) The darker gutters are also an interesting idea - I didn't even think of that! Thank you too chloebud! I'm adding Swiss Coffee to the list too! :) I really appreciate everyone's help! I'm awful at visualizing color schemes so it's super helpful to see all the ideas!!!...See MoreHU-187528210
