New Paver brick patio ...bricks have white marks.
Comments (1)I don't think it will wash away with rain. Take pictures of it and bring it to a mason supply store. They might have a product that will dissolve it. Muriatic acid might be a solution. It all depends on what the chemical composition of the white substance. You need to be very careful with this product and wear protective gloves, goggles, long sleeves, long pants, etc... An internet search should give you the correct safe method of diluting and testing it on the bricks. Ron...See MorePavers vs. Bricks/Best Installation for bricks
Comments (1)Your best bet might be laying 6-8" of recycled concrete/aggregate base underneath, followed by 1" of sand, with sand in the joints. This will minimize settling and damage from freeze/thaw cycles. Here is a link that might be useful: Concrete Pavers Guide...See MoreCedar swing post deteriorated at bottom
Comments (2)roselee. Your idea about lifting up the posts and setting them on a higher paver is a promising possibility. If the posts are re-set above the rain area and are structurally Ok, I think you have a good chance of saving the set. Try it and allow the posts to fully dry out before you decide either to cut their bottoms and epoxy any rotting areas. Comments (11)Boy, it is hard to know what this stuff looks like until it is installed. Keeping with the rest of the house design is the most important. Brick and pavers will both last and have the same maintenance priorities but if they don't match the house it doesn't matter. I found this app at www.specifixapp.com that can help solve this problem. It is for retailers but you can download for 30 days no matter who you are if you complete the form. I did the side by side comparison while standing in my driveway with this app. I noticed they had examples of driveways too on their gallery page. Good luck!...See MoreShadyWillowFarm
