Oval Table -- What Size Rectangular Tablecloth?

I'm having a hard time finding an oval tablecloth (60 X 84) in a warm, 'goldy' yellow. I can find more options online in rectangular cloths. What size rectangular would work?

This is a Pennsylvania House kitchen table (44 X 66). I bought it in a hurry years ago, not realizing that the table top is some kind of laminate over pine. Table and chair legs are distressed white, as is a small buffet. I'm thinking I could try a cloth before trying to replace the table, which would have to be all wood -- I'd never be able to match the painted parts of the rest of the set.

Have you looked on Etsy? You an search specifically for oval tablecloths, plus there are a lot of people who will make one to order.

For an oval you'd probably need 60"x84". A rectangle would be about the same only it would have an uneven hem with points in the 4 "corners". Did you check amaz?

Look on Ebay. I bought an oval tablecloth book there last year, and it is still offered there off and on. What size table? Ovals are hard to find. I have also found them in very old tablecloth books, though rarely.

I'm not sure what type of look you're going for, but either shape would probably work. It also depends on how long your table will be. If you have a round chandelier, you'd want to make sure you have enough light at either end of the table without causing glare in the center. I have the same fixture as daisyyoung posted (Kichler Hendrix) in a different finish. It's the 6-light rather than the 5-light so it's oval and I like how it looks with my 7' foot rectangular table that can expand to 9'. It offers plenty of light for the whole table.

Total pain. I have one of these that when extended makes an oval 60 wide and 94 long, and I still haven't bought a tablecloth -- because I can't find one at Marshall's, of course. ;-) I have had a hard time paying for custom. So usually I drape a couple of cloths and either cover up the "seam" with a runner, or just leave it if it's pretty (I have some antique white linen cloths with hemstitching that are nice like this). Any other suggestions, besides placemats and custom?

When you prewire, make sure they don't cut through the ceiling. Instead have them just leave the wiring in the attic or ceiling space. Our *helpful* electricians put it through the ceiling in what was apparently a random location, and of course, it had to be moved. DD had hers prewired, and the wiring was left accessible, but they didn't cut the hole in the DR ceiling, so easily brought down in the correct location later and passed inspection that way. I guess I should have been more specific when telling the builder, but learned the hard way.

Are you looking for linen or cotton, no-iron, stain resistant, etc.?

FWIW, I often use Google Image search to find sources for things I'm looking for.

This one is so cute - I used the terms 'golden yellow linen oval tablecloth'

I have a 42" W x 60" L oval dining table (42" diameter without the two leaves), and I have a rectangular tablecloth on it now with a 6" drop at each curved end and 9" drops at the straight ends. This means that my tablecloth is 60" W x 72" L.

You want the same drop at the extremes so yeah, the listed size stays the same. 60x84.

Agree with 60x84. That’s the size I occasionally use when we add a leaf to our 42” round kitchen table to convert to oval. You might check HomeGoods which is where I found some 60x84.

Many thanks. Good to know I can use either oval or rectangular 60 X 84.

I just want to be able to cover the deteriorated table top once in a while.

At our ages it seems a little frivolous to spend a thousand dollars to replace the table. I wonder where I could find someone to sand off the laminate and place a new surface on the existing frame and legs. (Probably cost more than a new table!)
