need backsplash suggestions for Taj Mahal quartzite countertops

Please help me figure out a backsplash to use with my Taj Mahal quartzite. My kitchen cabinets are snowfall white.

And my husband is not a fan of Subway tile…

Sonoma Stellar tile comes in many other shapes besides subway. This is Boka and the color is smoke.

I would look for a tile backsplash. With your slab cabinets, a little but of texture and pattern might be nice. I would consider TM subway tile in a slightly larger format than usual. Or perhaps a simple cream pulled from the TM in an interesting shape, say an elongated hex or a cross pattern. Fireclay and Heath have lots of colors and many shapes.

Joanna, I am reading along here with the same dilemma! Fell in love with the Taj after seeing it in a kitchen our contractor recently finished in Roseville. I think it's your yours! With the beautiful crackle backsplash? I was thinking I'm in the same situation of not wanting to wait until the counters are in to decide since Gary will be moving on to his next job! Is the Taj Mahal installed in your kitchen yet?

If so, if you post a photo of your kitchen, you will get the best help. We need to see it in your space with the white cabinet color, flooring, wall color, etc…

If it isn’t installed yet, wait and then post the photos. You can bring home sample tiles to see in your lighting.

When I was searching for my backsplash, I would get a sample tile at the store and think it was going to look great. But once I saw it at home in my lighting, it would look totally different.

So is it Benjamin Moore Snowfall White on your cabinets?

If so, it has a yellow undertone. The Taj Mahal slab you picked has pink undertones on my screen. I am not a paint expert, but think the yellow will make the pink look even more pink and vice versa. It might make finding a backsplash tile very difficult.

Can you bring one of your cabinet doors to see how it looks next to the Taj?

Also, what are your floors? Do you have a flooring sample you could bring to the slab as well?

If you do a bit of searching on Building and Kitchen forums, you will find lots of posts covering this exact topic, with lots of suggestions and photos.

I used this Jeffrey Court marble mosaic, but My cabinets are BM Chantilly Lace and the honed white marble was a good complement to the Chantilly Lace. The polished brown marble tied into the darker veins in the Taj Mahal, the wood floor stain and wood ceiling beam stain in my kitchen.

here's snowfall painted cabinets. I think you'll be fine w creamy white tile.....the pale smokey blue is kind of interesting w the cabs in that snowfall shown here [use regular subway] .....if the white tile is too boring......

In some layouts using Taj slab could be dramatic and worth the extra material cost. You'd save a lot on labor.
