Ebb Tide
Comments (7)This one takes a few years to establish as does all of Tom Carruth's purples. They get better each season. Wild Blue Yonder is a perfect example. I was not thrilled with it at all the first year, but last year (it's 2nd) was much better. Ebb Tide did OK for me last year, (it's 1st) It was an OK shape, just on the small to medium size. Does anyone notice the strange leaf shapes on this family of purples?...See MorePURPLE Good for cutting but like Ebb Tide
Comments (13)"I don't know why, but my Ebb Tide has never had much of a scent. It might just be me though. " *********************** Well, there's one way to know...do you have other 'smelly' roses in your garden? Maybe the vase longevity is because of the spray. I don't know why that would be. I did cut the main 'old' bloom off the spray today it was already a few days old when I cut it. The other buds are opening right up; one bloom is fully opened, and is not fading to that deep purple. Nothing in the vase is lasting as long as my Rose de Rescht, however. Madsud, now there (Rose de Rescht) is a tough, gorgeous, super-smelly rose for you. Mine survived three years all on it's own under a tree, with no winter protection. Also a very nice deep pink, might even be classified a 'mauve.' Funny, the blooms last longer in the vase then they do on the bush!...See MoreEbb Tide vs Reines des Violletts
Comments (4)I also would love to see what people have to say about this comparison, I have recently added RDV to my list of must try's, I have Ebb Tide right now, and out of all my 12 in-ground roses, it has had the most trouble getting established, (all of my roses are in their first year). For a while I thought it was a goner, but just last week it sprouted something like 3 new basal canes and 3 or 4 new off-shoots from old canes after sitting there doing absolutely nothing for months when all my other roses were growing vigorously & blooming like crazy. I don't know what I did to break from its weird dormancy, but it might have been the banana smoothies I've been giving them lately ( I just blend up my old rotten bananas or banana peels with water, dilute that down pretty good & pour it around each rose) I started doing this when I read about roses love for potassium & I think it has really helped to encourage new growth & therefore bloom. I always hear people talk about Ebb Tide like it is such a reliable re-bloomer, and now hopefully I will experience that side of my Ebb Tide too. Jessica...See MoreEbb Tide Rose
Comments (5)its tones of deep plum purple washed with a haze of sultry smoke. The blooms are very double with old-fashioned form and a spicy clove fragrance so powerful it nearly bowls you over Thank you world map...See MoreSophiaTheReader .
