If you go with the Thermador ovens you proably will have nothing but trouble, I had the POD302 Professional Deluxe double ovens from Thermador less than a year I had nothing but problems the temp being off 25 degrees but the biggest one was when I cleaned it for the first time and with in 15-20 minutes it shattered the glass on the inside of the oven. I called my appliance store and they were going to replace it with another Thermador and I told them no, Iam now going to go with the meile double ovens

We had a similar target budget and made some similar choices for the oven/fridge. We like the Bosch ovens and the KA fridge quite a bit. For the rangetop, we went with a DCS. It's not mentioned much on this forum, but we have been extremely pleased. It gets a great simmer on all burners, too.

Thank you, maire_cate for your nice note. I just rec'd a resolution and definitely wanted to follow-up here for Thermador Freedom freezer searches. So the yokel with whom I'd spoken 7/19 in Thermador's customer service, who told me there are no supervisors, that they manage themselves, was wrong. He'd told me the only way I could potentially get help was to send an e-mail to a generic e-ddress. I immediately did and one week later rec'd a response saying "we cannot help you with that. You'll need to call the service center." So back to where I started. So I did just that. I called again and this time got a gal who thought it was hilarious I'd been told they have no supervisors, that they manage themselves. She said "how fabulous!" I gave her my spiel, inc. the day and time I'd made my initial call (because that person hadn't noted my call in my file, as is SOP @ Thermador) and she got on it tout de suite. Within three hours she called me back, saying she'd presented my case (inc. our continuing service issues with this unit) to her supervisor and they agreed to cover the cost of the new ice maker -- not the labor, but the unit itself. Fine, great! Because I was ticked about the way we were initially treated by Thermador and the fact that we have had such ongoing, catastrophic issues with this freezer I wanted to share that with potential Thermador users. It is now only fair and right to let you know we had a satisfactory and fair result. Thermador did the right thing, and as we all know that can be quite rare ....

We've had both -- lighting and power line break in past 3 years. O joy. After the lightning a whole house surge protector was installed in the fuse box. I still lost 9 appliances when the power line broke. The lightning strike only zapped the phones and one outlet though it dug itself a 20 foot trench outside and scorched a wall where it hit the house. Also fried the flatscreen. We had insurance coverage for both. They paid to repair first, or replace if not possible. They priced everything and gave us an allowance. If the ovens have been repaired but still do not work, I'd suggest contacting the insurance company. None of the appliances with electronic components seem to be made to withstand this kind of thing. When there are power outages there are repairs my appliance guys have said. The surge protector may or may not have helped when the power line burst. There was no real pattern. The microwave was blown out but the oven over it (miele) was not. The refrigerator was blown out but the dw and cooktop and hood were fine. We lost all our phones and the air tub motor and more. The only explanation I get is that electricity in these situations is very unpredictable. Other suggestion is to read your policy very carefully before you deal with them -- presentation can make a big difference, as can photo documentation.
