Your kitchen is beautiful! I love the mix of white and wood cabinets with the Hanstone quartz. Thank you so much for the photos! I used this quartz in my bathrooms and this is similar to what I’m planning to do with my kitchen next. I see you continued the quartz in the backsplash behind the stove. What did you use for the backsplash behind the sink and desk? Also, what have you found to work best for maintaining the quartz? I’m a little afraid of mine given the warnings they gave me about heat damaging it. I’ve also noticed that I need to wipe off water spots. Thank you!

Well, I just wrote a lengthy post with pics to follow up and thank everyone for their feedback, ideas, and pics, and it didn't post! I am guessing it had to do with the photos, so I will try this again with just a photo here and if it works I will post more separately. We ended up going with LG Everest for the counters (island and perimeter) and Sonoma tile in Aquarius for the backsplash.

Oh yes, I can totally understand wanting to play it safe. I would probably do the same thing in your shoes. I know that two different cabinet materials with two different countertops is one that can easily get botched. But for some reason I feel like your particular kitchen could have been the exception to the rule. I think it would have been amazing, if only you could have found the perfect quartzite for the island! Needle in the haystack though to find the perfect color and have it also pass the testing. I do have a confession. When I mocked up your one quartzite slab above, I didn’t really like it. I thought it was way too white, so I tinted it to be closer to your cabinet color a couple shades. But, it still wasn’t quite working was it! I am in agreement with you on the quartz choice. I definitely prefer the Cambria Malvern over the Calacatta Valentin. As I looked at a few images of the Valentin, I am sorry to say this, but all that kept popping in my head was…That pattern looks exactly like an old broken cracked concrete driveway. 😬 It might have just been the few I saw though. Anyways, here is the Malvern. I think it looks very nice. It will make it easier and much more fun to pick out the backsplash. Now to answer your question if you should do the soapstone remnant on the hutch area? Um let me think…..YEEEESSS!!! Just do some black somewhere like hardware or light fixtures (like you have), metal on bar stools, etc… I have seen some kitchens do the black handles on the painted cabinets and then do antiqued brass or different style on the wood. I have no doubt, whatever you decide it will be gorgeous! Please post a reveal.

Thanks everyone for your advice! We are buying a house that is new construction. It’s not a custom house, but the builder allows us to choose certain things. Walls and ceiling/trim will probably be pure white/extra white. I know it’s hard to believe, but in this market we are thankful to have a house, and any additional choices are extras:) our neighborhood is selling very fast and the builder could have gotten away with just picking everything for us. I’m just trying to make the best decisions with whatever we can. If it would have been a custom build I would do it very differently!
