Favorite Rainbow Plumeria?
Comments (20)Bill, for what its worth, I looked in my Plumeria Handbook to find what makes a Rainbow Plumeria. The book states that "Rainbows (rubra forma tricolor) have a predominantly white corolla, generally with a yellow center and the outer margins of the lobes rose-pink. Many of this hybrid has this form in their background. Rainbows are one of four hybrids identified as rubra's from Central America according to Woodson who wrote the revision of the genus Plumeria in Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden, 1938." from The Handbook on Plumeria Culture, 4th edition,2005 by Richard & Mary Helen Eggenberger. I'm still struggling with my impulse buy Plumeria that had a significant amount of root rot, didn't know till I repotted. It still has healthy green leaves but remains unchanged since purchase. I know it is likely rebuilding its root system. I ordered the book above, as I always do when I take anything new on. I want everything to come with directions, that is the only reason I could quote this info. You and everyone else may have this book but if not, it is a good source of the history and propogation of Plumeria. It also covers the care, repotting, cuttings, propogation etc of Plumerias, also has gorgeous flowers though the pictures posted in this thread are spectacular....See MoreRoses 'M'
Comments (11)Hey Iris gal... Yeah MOH has a lot of incorrect pictures on HMF. Those dark orangey ones are the so-called "climbing sport of MOH." But a bunch of us determined it's actually FOLKLORE. I don't remember MALIBU balling. But this was the first of two decent blooms it got last yr. The yr before that, the deer ate most of the blooms, so I didn't get to see much. MISS BEHAVIN' is one the most fluorescent pinks I've ever seen. It actually borders on a deep magenta-violet in the fall. Ooopsy... I forgot it's "MU LAN." Gotta put the space in there. It is listed on HMF. This was my first really good bloom on it too. Got it from Almost Heaven Roses a couple yrs ago. Just be glad I didn't put all the Ms on here!! LOL...See MoreS hallii
Comments (1)Oh Dale that's a beauty! I too just got my first hallii, I'm amazed by how large and thick the leaves are. Mine has an offset too which I've potted up separately. It was orange from being below the soil line and is now greening up. Wonderful, wonderful plant!...See MoreWelocme!
