Design Dilemma entry Exterior

All exterior doors the same color or front door different?

I know this has been asked before, and general consensus is that it’s on a case-by-case basis. So here’s my case:

We have a lot of freaking exterior doors! This is a big project with lots of additional stuff being done here, including new windows, new doors, new metal roof, new driveway, addition of a pergola in front and a pool in back, and no more chain link fence.

We have the front door and we have 3 doors under our carport. (2 of them - to the laundry room/powder room and to a storage area - face front, and the door we always use to enter the house faces the side.)

We have this newly constructed 2 car garage with attached living space next to our soon-to-be installed pool and behind a privacy fence - 1 door facing the pool, 1 door on the opposite side facing a fence, and the garage door facing front, but behind the privacy fence:

The current thought is:

Sherwin Williams Daphne for the brick and all siding:

Sherwin Williams Cavern Clay for the front door:

I’m thinking all other doors will be white, to match the trim.

Thoughts? Thank you!

NOTE: Please don’t tell me not to paint the brick…

Either use masonry paint or limewash. Do not use standard acrylic paint. It will peel because it doesn't allow the brick to breathe. I believe you can have the masonry paint custom colored.

I would be concerned about the final product if you used the two colors you have posted. I might consider a dark blue, but not the bright blue you have posted.

I don't know, here's a house with those 2 colors:

My husband and I like it. I also should probably say, this is a beach community.

We haven't ruled out white, which seems to be the most popular choice down here where so many folks paint their brick ranches, but I'm thinking I really do want a little more pop.

And our builder is very familiar with painting brick.

Thanks for your advice, but have you no thought on my actual question?

Absolutely, paint it green if you like. As long as the doors aren't side by side, you can have them any color you like. That will look neat having the cushions and the door coordinate. Good eye!! Trim is used to unify, doors are not. My front door is mahogany wood and the side and back doors are white.

Resurrecting an old thread - I have been considering painting the door trim the same color as the door. I was happy to see this post that said it was stunning - but I can't find any pictures of this at all (other than some wood doors that have wood trim). Does any one have any pictures of door and trim painted the same color, or is there some design reason why this is rarely done?

I would strip and refinish them too. It doesn't look like the finish that's on them (or at least the old one) is very good anyway. You might end up having to paint them if they get too much sun, but they're too pretty stained to give up on just yet.

All the same color because it's essentially one in the same element. In other words, you can have a door with no side lights but you can't have side lights without a door. That's why it doesn't make sense to paint the side lights a different color from the door.

In the actual paint deck the Daphne looks more blue grey than your sample. I don't love the clay color with it though. How about a more coral color like this:

We have 2 front doors. The main one is an accent color - SW Hazel, the second one we painted the trim color of white.

I would want the front door/entry area to pull the focus. Paint all other exterior doors to blend with the siding, and paint the front door a color that’s noticed.
