Basement bar backsplash
Redoing our basement and
putting in a bar and need baskplash help!!! Can we use a herringbone mirror backsplash for this set up or will it be too busy??
There will be a TV in the center where the brown cardboard is shown.

Anyone with a 2 inch backsplash or no backsplash?
Comments (21)Hi. We installed out kitchen in 2012. We still haven't chosen or decided on a backslpash - it's the painted wall. I have a creamy Egyptian marble, - don't remember the name. I like unstructured European vintage-y kitchens. Many of them don't have backsplashes either. My stainless range has a stainless backsplash directly behind it. I had picked out some mini-clear glass subway tile for the backsplash that coincidentally matches my Prescott Green paint color perfectly but what if I decide to change wall color one day? Just this week I started thinking maybe I made my backsplash tile decision three years ago which was to have none. Our marble installers tried very hard to discourage us from marble in the kitchen but I have not regretted it. All those kitchens in southern Europe can't be wrong. Comments (6)Since the isolated cabinets are in an eating area and away from the kitchen, I say it would look better NOT to have a tile backsplash for them. But, if it will be a coffee bar area, there likely will be dark splashes in the future. Comments (8)Mirrored wallpaper is extremely expensive. I have looked into it. For the bar in our new home, I have wood shelves in my cabinets. I did not want to see dust on through the glass shelves. I placed 1/8" mirror sheets behind my upper shelves. Had it cut to cabinet size at Lowe's. I did not glue it in. The shelves hold the mirror in place. Did the same in a previous home and they held up beautifully. For safety, I warned the new owners, and even left a note inside the cabinets that the mirrors were not secured to the back. 2 months agoThe tv should be a couple inches lower.
No mirrored anything on the same wall as a tv (one show at a time…).
Finish the cabinets and countertop before selecting a backsplash. They all need to work together. The cabinets look really nice. Are they gray or deep olive green? If you can get the same material as the countertop for the backsplash, it will be better for this television nook. Less elements are better when the tv is the focal point.
Second to that idea, whatever tile you choose, I would keep the grout as similar a color as possible to keep,down the “busyness” factor on that wall.
