Glare is not unique to LED lighting. To reduce glare, either dim it, angle it or get a more diffuse light source (eg - uniLume). FWIW, there is a long running thread on UCL. Here is a link that might be useful: LED UCL continuation

maxiepines, I didn't follow your thread about cook tops so maybe someone already mentioned this. A downdraft set within a gas cook top pulls at the flames. This isn't an issue with your old electric cook top - no flame. I have a pop-up downdraft for my island's gas cook top. Even though it rises 7" above the cook top, it pulls the flame when turned on high and even on medium, it pulls on the back burners' flames more than I'd like. The downdraft blew out (would that be sucked out?) a burner when it was on low a few times. Today's gas cook tops generally come with automatic re-ignition, which is good, because the only way I know this has happened with my old cook top is when I smell gas. Anyhoo, a downdraft set at the same level as the burners will do this even more than my 7" pop-up does. Can you add a pop-up downdraft, preferably one of the newer models that rises more than 7" above the cook top instead? Stunning photos, as usual, boxerpups. You rock!

bumping this back up because we have opted to go with granite- originally, we were going to get what we thought was a quartzite, but we think it is actually marble and the fabricator was selling it as "qualtcite" trying to pass it off. We tested the sample and it etched almost immediately. We looked at quartz options, and both of us like the patterns, but they are all very dull and lifeless and flat to us. Which led us to going with granite because that is most affordable. However, the granite I chose is, of course, one of the most expensive ones out there... Pitaya White. Husband wants me to consider Colonial White Granite as it was recommended as a cheaper option by the fabricator we are now going with. There is a $1200 difference so of course the husband wants me to consider it. We are also going to likely pull the mosaic backsplash and just do a super neutral grayish white backsplash that will have a little dimension (hopefully) We went to the Triton to look at slabs and that is where we chose the Pitaya. We both LOVED it. They didn't have any colonial white at the time so we haven't seen it in person. In all of the pictures I've seen online, there is a TON of variance in all of the different slabs!! Any suggestions? Thoughts? Anyone have colonial white?

you're not going to fit a large tub in there, just a regular 5' model. is this the master en suite? I like your idea of a colorful tile. You have nice lighting from the window. However, I'd prob convert it to shower only. this space was Identical to yours and they wanted the tub removed for a shower. no shower doors. we did one glass panel. (not pictured here, but it's almost invisible) So it makes the space seem larger. (this isn't a finished photo, since there are no shelves or mirror) 5' X 33" I believe were the measurements start compiling the looks you like and add them to your idea book. collect some tile samples, and save your money! These people got a deal for less than 10K, but only because I helped them shop and have a really good GC who can do everything. (they got a new window, new drywall, new lighting, vanity, flooring,,,,this was completely gutted)
