Please help me choose a paint color for my kitchen
Comments (6)This might sound like a lot of work right now, but have you considered painting the cabinets white? I love the chair rail and the wainscoting in the dining room, but your cabinets do not really match that style right now. Your Kitchen would look fabulous with white cabinets and a white subway tile back splash. No matter what you do, I would suggest changing the hardware to a stainless steel. In the mean time have you considered a brown/putty color for the walls? I think that I too would go more neutral. Stay away from yellows since your cabinets have a lot of yellow in the wood. For example a brown like this picture. I think it would really play up your current kitchen cabinets. I would stick with the same color below and above the chair rail. Brown- Benjamin Moore Branchport Brown, Benjamin Moore Woodacres, Benjamin Moore Stampede, Sherwin-Williams Cobble Brown, Sherwin-Williams Van Dyke Brown (shown below), Behr Traditional....See MorePLEASE help me choose countertop color asap!
Comments (43)What a gorgeous kitchen! I'm jealous of all that beautiful wood. The character of the wooden beams and wooden base cabinets bring such warmth and personality, it almost feels like the outdoors are coming in. I had looked under your name in the finished kitchens blog to see if you were there, really appreciate you sharing the photo. Your backsplash is so pretty, just the right amount of bling and lightness. Where did you find it? I'd like to do he same thing, with subway glass tile everywhere except right behind the stove, do arabesque there. If I had a kitchen like this, I'd want to cook a lot too. =) Love hearing that cleanup is easy with a stain resistant grout, that's a great tip, I'll be sure to ask for that too, Was it an epoxy grout?...See MoreNeed help in choosing Granite countertop for my Kitchen
Comments (5)Please take a cabinet door to the granite yard to select yourslab. Remember cherry will change color over time do take an aged door. Take your time with this. I believe you can do better, but if these three are your choices, take the last one. Take your time with the backsplash and choose it after the granite install....See Morehelp me choose my kitchen please
Comments (23)Hi Steph Anie, I almost gasped when I saw your kitchen design as it is nearly identical to ours in the house we're currently in the planning stages for. We did make a few changes to the design from the plans without changing the layout drastically. One of the biggest mods was to add a tall cabinet for wall oven with microwave over top to the left of the dishwasher, so that we could have deep drawers under the cooktop. We're using a stainless steel exhaust hood, as I like the look better than a wood hood. We'll have glass-fronted uppers on either side of the cooktop, and regular uppers on either side of the kitchen window. We will also have a lovely view of the woods, so I can understand your desire for a bigger window, but I wouldn't give up those cabinets for anything, for convenience and storage. I disagree with the person who suggested moving the kitchen sink to the island. I want to look out the window when I am working at the sink, NOT into the room...I'd be looking at my dining/kitchen table. I'd rather look at the birds and trees outside! We are adding a prep sink in the island, close to the refrigerator end, and having the pantry framed out for better storage. The pantry cabinet the kitchen cab company recommended would have too much wasted space in the upper part, as the shelves are super deep and can't be pull-out, since they are too high. So we'll have a pantry with a door and u-shaped shelving built inside in the same location as yours. We added an appliance garage in the corner...that will be for a food processor and blender. One final change we made is in the island, on the side facing the sink, we are having the cabinet turned sideways so we can get a pull-out trash cabinet and a paper towel roll inset. Don't know if any of this helps but just wanted to share what we came up with after working with a kitchen designer for awhile. Maybe some of our changes might apply to your kitchen as well!...See MoreJudyG Designs
