I bought outdoor and indoor fixtures with opalescent glass and a gold overlay years ago, before all the new bulbs came out. It was a lot of work to change the incandescent bulbs on the ceiling and hanging fixtures, so when the spiral fluorescents came out, I was hooked on the long-life concept, the energy savings being a bonus -- not sure of the exact wattage, as they've been in place about 3 years now. Outdoors we have a front porchlight, a hanging lantern on the patio, a column mount near the steps, and a wall mount by the back gate, all in the same style, but varying shapes for the various mountings. The quality of the light is fine for everything except reading fine print. : ) And it sure beats the floodlight from our neighbor across the alley! Thanks for the quick responses! The issue with the fan is mechanical so we either need to replace with a new one or we may decide to go with an actual light without the fan. We defaulted to a fan as we had one there before but we keep rethinking the lighting! Cabs are Norcraft cherry with chocolate glaze. Love them so far for the few days they have been in. Others have asked about Norcraft and I will post finished pics once counters and backsplash are in.

I'm in agreement on the pendants...don't get the matched ones. One of the reason that chandy is so fabulous and will be in your house is that it appears to be a one of type of thing. It flows well with the pendants and will help deleniate the dining area from the kitchen nicely. I'm so glad we can be friends now...cuz honey you got some great freaking lighting taste. As to that one for the foyer you didn't get....have you considered a divorce???? heh heh Ok keep the man but sheesh....a lamp is a lifetime...a man....ok well they are too but the lamp will never lose it's hair :oP My chicken: (and no my house is NOT tuscan...It's just eclectic): The foyer lamp I let get away (but now I have a house for it so it's gonna be MINE!!!)

That's a nice blank slate bathroom I'd say what I'd do-I'd find a vanity light that I like. I'd look for warm finish, like brass again, but maybe antiqued brass, or oil rubbed bronze might be good too. There are so many cool lights(especially when one browses vintage as I tend to do)-less choice with vanity lights yet still-that it would be helpful to know your preferences before suggesting anything specific. I for example love so many styles, yet can still miss the one that'd appeal to you. But if you start browsing-at some point you'll see what you love a tad more than others, for your bathroom. I have three bathrooms-one has vintage mcm pendants to light the vanity(colored glass), one has modest vintage brass fixture of very good quality, found on Craigslist, one somehow wound up with Tiffany vanity lights-that's strange since I used to actively dislike Tiffany..:) But the pattern is very unfussy-it's plaid. (I love flowers in lights too, but I have so many it's not even funny)) So..if you can point out the style we can say: check up so and so sites and so and so stores..or there are huge sites where you're bound to find (almost) everything. Since you'll probably have to patch the wall anyway, and paint-then you might as well repaint. It's a flattering color btw. But if you're not a fan of it-you're freer than most of us in finding another color..:) Nothing here really bosses you around. Just try samples first..every color changes depending on the room it's used into. Then (not neccessarily in that order, you can consider all these things as a concept as you move along) I'd have a blast with finding a shower curtain. That's my another weakness though-shower curtains..so again I'm afraid to bombard you with suggestions until I know about your style and preferences a bit more. Lastly-I'd find towels that make me I mean you happy(very personal..some people happiest with white towels..that's not me..))..a bathmat that can be as interesting or as plain as you wish...and I like bathroom accessories but even more I like taking something that's strictly was something else, like an interesting cup or a mug or a creamer, and use it to hold daily stuff. You can use small trays too, or little bowls, and they can be of very different styles, from funky to simple and streamlined. Find whatever rocks your boat and have fun. You can hang art..just one that's not too precious..can't be ruined with water you know? art can be anything-an oil painting, just not too expensive or sentimental one, a framed drawing/print/poster/postcard..a cool artistic tile.. you can even put a small plant somewhere. If there's a window that's easier..if no window though, some small plants -one needs to try really hard to kill those:) like certain succulents maybe..Granted, depends on the space, and how much one loves plants:) But you can google "plants that are hard to kill"...that's what I do when I forget the exact name:) You have all the chances in the world to have a very interesting bathroom, by plainly carefully choosing colors, textures, shapes, and accessories that appeal to you. In terms of functionality-a bigger showerhead? Also storage maybe. You know, the things that hang over the shower? Again, depends on your style. And whether you need it. For guests, I like to keep a clear container that holds all sorts of small shampoos, soaps, etc. Looks pretty as if it was decor, and useful too. another thing I like to keep handy -a candle. You're out of power (I know happens rarely but still can happen)-you don't need to frantically look for one. I try to keep candles in rooms that get used a lot. They can be pretty, or very discreet and not in one's face, But it's something useful to have in a bath.
