I looked at your other thread. And I need more info to give you some help. Are you going to do pendant lights above the island? Do you want a larger hanging light above the table (like a chandelier but doesn't have to be that "fancy" persay.)Are you going to do under cabinet lights? I'd recommend UCL. Especially the LED kind. I'll have to ask my husband where we order ours from but we like them a lot. B/c they are LED, they don't put out heat so I feel fine leaving them on all day. We also did 5'' LED can lights in the ceiling - the ones sold and marketed for Home Depot - CREE. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. They are really expensive, like $32 each, but you shouldn't have to replace them for 15 years. They don't put off any heat (which is SOOO nice), are a really pretty color of light (not yellow, not blue - just perfect like natural light) and have amazing dimmer capacity. Our GC put in AWFUL cans and I replaced them within a day. The bulb was an indoor/outdoor halogen. Talk about HOT!! If you are interested in the CREE LED can light, buy them on ebay and let your contract know before hand b/c they include the trim kit and casing. Perhaps your GC would take off the price of that from their estimate if you were buying the can lights yourself. As far as placement goes, the rule of thumb with cans is about every 4-5' for 5'' cans. A quick search here or on the lighting side will give you lots of examples of what some the rules and general guidelines are. Your floor plan doesn't look funky or difficult so light should be pretty straight-forward. The one immediate thing I saw/thought about when I saw your floor plan was that cans in the pantry and entry way might not be the best option. It's a matter of personal opinion. If you like cans, sure use them in the pantry and mudroom but in the foyer, if it were me, I'd do something more substantial like a chandelier in the foyer and perhaps a flush mount light in the pantry. One last question, have you posted your layout for general feedback on this forum? I ask b/c I am guessing you are going to prep on the left side of the sink (it is closet to the fridge) and that is where your DW is. When doing my layout someone pointed out that prepping over a running or just finished hot DW isn't very much fun. So I moved it to the other side of my sink. Could you do that? Then the prep zone could be on the left and the clean up zone could be on the right.

Not zinc....no way no how, too much detail, and the condition is too good. Zinc corrodes and bends and breaks....but I do see a broken finger. have you riled out bronze? What does the metal where that finger was broken look like? I know a few dealers who, when they don't know what they have, put it up for sale with a huge price, hoping to learn something before they sell it for a song. BTW...I have a house full of things I have bought for a song! Hope you find out more.

Here it is with the wallpaper and new bulbs, which echo the ones over the kitchen bar which is similar to the console. I know the chandelier isn't a showstopper, but do like the way everything relates to each other, and am thrilled to just have the house done. Thank you, rred, for all the help and suggestions!
