Johnliu, point well made. However, when you have a small kitchen, the neat/tidy pot rack utilizes space that would otherwise be vacant. And it can look pretty darn good doing it too. It is just a very utilitarian accessory for a busy cook with limited storage space. LIDS are always an issue. I have several decorative metal plate racks which hold 4 plates each. Purchased from Mobile Fixture here in Alabama, and they are a restaurant and kitchen supply store. I was able to put some of my flatter lids into the plate slots, and now finding the right size lid for the job is not such a noisy problem. Here's my current pot rack and IKEA utinsel bar. I admit this is overkill and sloppy, but we are nibbling away at a kitchen redo, and everything has to be somewhere. And here is the current state of affairs in the back porch which will one day become part of the kitchen redo. Note on top of the left M/Wave where the orange enameled pan is, those are lids and racks in a wire plate rack, forget where that one came from. And then here is the regular metal plate rack used as a lid rack for the time being. When I redo the kitchen, a built-in table with a countertop will be installed adjacent to the range. IKEA makes the one I will buy if I cannot use the s/s topped piece you see under my current pot rack. I already threw out the old range, and we're now cooking on this Waring Pro 2-burner hotplate. It works for us. But you should see how my hubby's friends shake their heads when they learn I threw out the stove!!!

Just my personal opinion, so take it for what it's worth. However, I am going through the same decisions right now as we are building a new home. Our island will be half the size of yours- 60". The model home we have selected to be our floor plan has three 7" pendants over the 60" island and I think they look lost on what is half your space. I will admit I just don't like mini-pendants, but that is not a criticism of your likes/dislikes. If I had an island your size I would use either 2 mini-chandeliers, one large chandelier, or 3 much larger pendants. You will need the light over this large area and also need to fill a large open area, especially if your ceilings are higher than 8'. JMHO.

Started to post yesterday but wanted to think on it a bit… firstly, your granite is Stunning with a capital S and is a beautiful choice for Craftsman style! It looks almost like an oil painting, and the few vertical striations make it so interesting and move your eyes around the whole surface. Thank you! It's even more gorgeous in person. I just want to hug it every time I see it. Secondly, I like that you are also installing pendant lighting at the two windows as well as the island, and I do think those should be the same. I keep going back and forth about that. My thinking is the island lights are in the middle of the kitchen and might be better off as more prominent? My initial and immediate gut instinct was to say go with the first fixture, but I kept going back to look at the second from the Old California Lantern Co, which is why I hesitated in posting yesterday. I think I’m going to be the voice of dissent and go with the Old California fixture over your table. Now you know my dilemma! LOL Do you feel the Old California goes with the pendants? For 10 ft. ceilings, I’d choose the larger 12” pendants to accentuate that lovely ceiling height. Smaller pendants would seem undersized IMO and experience. I'm thinking of doing the larger pendants over the island and the 9" pendants over the two windows. Perhaps it’s just my own preference for vintage and uniqueness, and I think the Old California Lantern Co chandelier is more interesting… so: I find comments others make help me decide my own mind… here are just a few: Do you feel it’s important the fixture over your table match identically or closely with the pendant lighting? I can see that the Old California chandelier has a patina and the metal coloring is different than your pendant choices – again, does this affect your decision? The picture is just what's on their website. I can get a finish that is almost exactly the same with the same glass. Because your granite is clearly the stand-out, do you want a fixture that will hold its own with the countertop, or do you feel the Old California might compete while the Huntington might compliment the granite and your style of Craftsman? I'm confused. I like them both. I do love the Old California but don't want it to compete either. I have a lot going on in the kitchen so I'm thinking the Arroyo Craftsman one may sit back a bit more with everything else going on. In the dining room niche I have a beautiful buffet and I'm planning on an subtle wallpaper just for that wall. In the kitchen where the glass is in the backsplash, that will have a stained glass piece. Subtle, but still another element.

@RL Relocation LLC thank you. There is a fixture already installed above the sink to provide the entire kitchen with lighting. No bulb installed yet though. Wiring for the lighting above the peninsula is easy. The wires currently run in a layer between the exposed rafters and the external roofing. Hence a source for each pendant light drops down either from the rafter or drilled through the beam I am only looking for suggestions of pendant lights for above the peninsula that will fit the design of the kitchen
