I think the luminettes may be a good solution. Why don't you look at them. There are usually window people around who will work with you in a "free shop at home" environment so you can try them in your room during the day and see if they work for you. In my experience, seeing into a room from outside during the day is difficult as that's the way the light is going and often there are reflections from the glass. So you might want to look in from outside at different times of day to see how much exposure you have. Another alternative, which you mentioned, is a window film. They have films that have gradations of privacy so you can determine at which height the window is obscured so you can get privacy lower down and light and view up above. You could try something similar by using sheers on the bottom half of the window and exposure up above. But these looks tend to be less contemporary. You'd have to be creative about how to mount it to the window so it didn't interfere with the functioning of the doors. I would think carefully about using the film. Why are you concerned about privacy. Someone would have to be really trying to look in to see much. The door style was made to be this way, why cover it? Get a ring doorbell or security cameras if it’s a concern . I saw the Beautiful door in your other post.

Hey There: You can install minimalistic light filtering bottom-up top-down shades to the door. This allows for light coming in the home but still gives you full privacy... This is a great way to manage light and privacy without having to block the light all year round.

I think it's a great idea. I have a (clear) glass door and it does feel like it lets in more light than a half lite door. I have bathroom windows with a pebbled rain glass and it's private enough. It might be too casual for an old Victorian. Seeded or reeded or some other more old school "pattern" might work better, especially if you just want to obscure the view instead of blocking every trace of movement...I suppose insetting a stained glass panel is kind of ridiculous if you just want more light. :) (For now you should put some window film on your current door.)
