I have 4" red oak and LOVE the look. We stained it with a 50/50 blend of Golden Oak and English Chestnut and it looks great - brown enough without being too dark, although it does have a heavy grain look, which makes it look like a striped exotic wood. If you have central air, I don't think you'll have to worry too much about warping, which is exacerbated by extreme humidity. Alternatively, you may want to consider engineered flooring. It looks like solid wood but is not prone to warping (I think).

It is most likely discontinued. What the flooring industry DOES NOT tell clients is a "man-made" flooring products (like vinyl, porcelain, laminate, engineered hardwood, etc) have a limited run/availability. These products are mass produced inside of a short period of time and then discontinued by the manufacturer. That means they are available for roughly 18 months. And then they are gone forever. It's possible you could dig up 1-4 boxes if you need a repair. If you are looking to add more square footage (like a room or more) then the likelihood of finding the quantity you are after will be very low. One place to look would be WeShipFloors. They are a mass-retailer. They may have access to the product.

I am struggling with the same issue - the samples I have gotten seem wonderful but the limited pictures on line are concerning - I do not want too much variation in coloring once the floor is put down. Any advice you could offer would be wonderful - thank you!
