SO GLAD you tackled that one, ken! LOL Actually, I didn't find him as 'cranky' at all--but he IS 'to the point' without a lot of 'dressing it up'! He's right about the 'Mars' and 'Venus' thing! We gals can 'think' and be very intelligent but we usually kick into the 'feelings' of a thing, ultimately and react and act from that base. Guys--from Mars, are to the point, logical (in their minds--MOST of the time) and really have a hard time figuring us 'feeling' gals out. For instance: Why can't we just lash out and get over it--right? I think ken is someone you need to meet and spend time with, (in person) in order to understand he's typing like he's thinking, quickly to the point, fast in and fast out--with little emotion, which includes irritation or anger!! I'm not saying he may not have a moment or two of crankiness, on this forum (at least it does come across that way SOMETIMES--who doesn't have those moments, anyway?) but I really think he genuninely does not see how what he types, CAN come across that way at times! You have to know, that we cannot know the mood of any of us when we try to communicate this way--the one typing or the one receiving the words, used to make a point! I'm glad I got to meet him and figure this part out and now I can visualize him saying what he's typing, and how he's REALLY saying it, and I can just see him making those quips as in person, not crankily but 'quick to the heart of the matter' (as previously said) with little rehashing or dressing it up! I had come to think that he reminds me of a man I use to work for, and I was right--his delivery and way of communicating is very similar, and after I sort of figured him out, (that his bark was much worse than his bite) we got along just fine!! If he DID seem cranky, I'd just ask him (in a teasing way), "Why are you so grumpy today?" He seemed to appreciate that I'd hit him head-on rather than turning and running out crying and feeling all hurt and sulking the rest of the day! :o) Did I describe you even close to your reality, as you see it, ken? Good Saturday morning! It's 89 F. and partly sunny here today, and I don't have a thing on my agenda (well, except for trying find that darned passport!!!). I loved reading so many posts from everyone! What a great start to my day seeing Marci, Suzanne, Dee, and Jan back and busy writing. It feels like home now! I chatted with Patti on FB the other night. She returned from her Texas vacation last Saturday and said to tell y'all 'hello'. My wrist is no longer swollen, but it's still tender and needs TLC for a while yet. I'm still wearing the bandage when I'm doing anything, and that's helping. The Divas event by the Chamber of Commerce was last night, and it seemed to be a big success. Big crowd, lots of smiling faces from the attendees, the pamperers, and the vendors, so I take that as a success. I got home a little after 11 last night as cleanup went very quickly. I'm hoarse today because the music was a little loud, and I had to talk over it to answer questions all evening. I had something nice happen last night: the chairman of the event recommended me to the principal of the local high school when she asked for advice on how to do a 'Divas' event for high school girls. We'll be getting together within the next month to begin brainstorming. Today is my oldest Dson's 32nd birthday. His dad and wife are there today, so I'd asked him to call me when it was a good time to talk, and he did a bit ago. I got to wish him a 'happy 32 years and 6 hours old birthday'. I could imagine a smile in his voice when he thanked me. :) QOD: I intend to rest my voice, my wrist, my feet, and my back today and do as little as possible. I do have to go into the depths of my messy closet and locate my passport, but dh is going to help me with that because of my wrist. Dinner tonight will be southwestern chicken in the crockpot and more doing nothing but lying around and watching movies. Church tomorrow. Jan, I WISH I'd stuck with my WOE back in January like you have. I've lost nothing. I'm praying for motivation to get serious once again and start losing like you. You're just doing so great! Obviously the clothespin comment was mis-posted (shame on me! LOL). Yes, Plow In, mold counts only because it's nasty and took 2 days of treating. OF COURSE you get to try another cabinet! My results: Tonight's cabinet was the top shelf over the stove, with the DUSTY shoebox of small "treasures" and odd-shaped lightbulbs. These bizarre items were flung without blinking an eye: 1 marker (dried out) 8 turkey skewers** see below 1 rusty-icky bottle opener 1 refrigerator diagram 3 wire easter egg dipper-holders 3 parts of turkey basters (why did I have 2, and where is the missing part??) 2 plastic relish forks 1 bent knife (might be a grapefruit knife, but I hate grapefruit) 1 metal something (actually looked like part of a desk drawer?) 1 small glass carafe for heating syrup for pancakes on the stove (LIKE I WOULD EVER DO THAT! LOL) 3 cork pullers (how many cork pullers does a house with no wine bottles need?) 2 wisks (one rusty, one too heavy to be useful) 1 vinyl patch kit 1 handle to something **Please note that I did ask DH what those metal pokey things were, and he THINKS they're turkey skewers. Keeping in mind that we have NEVER USED THEM, he was a little snippy when he asked if I was just going to give them away to the garage sale. Ummm... YES!! Gee whiz, I'm sorry I even let him see them. Maybe one day he'll get rid of the hoarding mentality? It's really kind of funny because he makes fun of OTHER people with the hoarding mentality, but doesn't see it in himself. I need to go tie up the trash bag before he decides to go through it and make sure I didn't throw out "good" stuff that we might need some day.
