Hello. I am stuck! Vaulted large wall?? Paint colors
Comments (33)The coffee table, chairs and sofa should definitely stay. They are the best pieces in the room and are well suited and well scaled for the space. The reason I don't care for the armoire is that is a large, bulky piece that doesn't accomplish anything other than hiding the t.v. IKEA's Besta can be custom configured to meet your needs for t.v. and book storage. Quite a few designers on here recommend them. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/10475/ Or you could do a simple console and surround it with art. What do you think of something like this for the t.v. The open shelving gives you a place for books as well. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/austin-62-media-console/s339530 You do have plenty of space for a gallery wall behind the sofa if that's a look you like. I agree with you that the console table doesn't work under the window. I think that window is better suited to some lovely drapes. A linen drape would be pretty on the windows. These are Pottery Barn linen/cotton drapes. Either the ivory or oatmeal would be a good choice I think. https://www.potterybarn.com/products/emery-linen-pole-pocket-drape-white/?pkey=e%7Clinen%2Bdrapes%7C148%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C48%7C%7C8&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH I love my jute area rug. It's from RugsUSA. Some people say they don't like the feel of jute because it's not soft, but I like the way it feels. I think you need to add some other lighting as well. Perhaps an end table with a table lamp to the left of the sofa and a floor lamp to the right. I love your choice of accent colors. Once you get the t.v. and book display situation down, I think pulling the rest together will be simple....See MoreWhich of these 2 colors do we paint our house with?
Comments (22)You probably know this, but you can get stains that are colored, like green. I personally like seeing some of the grain of the semi-transparent stain and feel like going to a solid stain would lose some of the character of the home. (and once you go solid, I think it's hard to go back to semi-transparent). Not sure if there are other homes in your neighborhood that are similar that you could look at, either in terms of colors, or solid vs. semi-transparent. I have a hard time visualizing things, so I'd need more than a swatch. I'd buy a sample can and paint out the largest piece of wood I could reasonably get and then prop that up. Carry it to different parts of the house (i.e. your front may be shady in the afternoon, while the back patio is blasting full sun.) When we repainted our house (a sage green) we definitely saw the color samples change depending on the amount of shade and bright sunlight. (some colors "moved" towards yellow or tan in the bright light; others "moved" towards blue in the shade). Picking colors is tricky, but when you land on the right one it will be so worth it! ;)...See MoreShould we replace our white fascia & gutters with another color?
Comments (11)Hey there jessep! New Berlin - small world! I I think you are definitely right about keeping the soffit light because it is over two feet wide. I'm still stuck on the idea of chestnut bronze for the fascia, gutters & windows. Leaving the soffit white (alabaster) would also allow me to leave the garage door white because I definitely don't want to paint or replace that since it's in good shape. The roof is brown and what's worse that it's got kind of a mahogany/violet undertone. I would much prefer one the color of the example picture. I will also take your advice regarding large color samples to help us make any decisions easier. Thanks for that! I was talking with another friend this weekend who said that he thought I should stay away from a black facia because it may fade and get ashy looking. To replace the barn red maybe we'll try matching the color of our brick to help make the house look all-brick? I don't know......See MoreSo stuck on paint color
Comments (40)Actually I think White Duck is the color I have been searching for ... It doesn't really change throughout the day. Our recess lights have 6 settings. We have been playing with those also. White Dove and White Duck seem to work well with warmer light. They are great in these gloomy winter days. I have creamy also. Husband said, no more yellow Haha I have no clue why he would say that 😉...See Moreelcieg
