Tear in new carpet pad

Dan R

Hello, I just had new stairway carpet installed, and noticed the installer accidentally cut a 1-foot long slice into the Mohawk SmartCushion memory foam carpet pad. It's a narrow slice of about 1/8-1/4" inch wide (see photo). This is located in the center of the middle landing on the stairs. He didn't think it mattered, but I'm concerned the tear will increase with foot traffic. Is it worth replacing the carpet/pad on the landing, or is the tear not a problem? Any advice is much appreciated, thank you!
