Dining table placement
Comments (7)10 years is a lifetime so I definitely think moving a light fixture or fan would be well worth it. It certainly doesn't fall into the category of "remodeling". Life is too short to spend it being unhappy with your home. My grandparents used to drive me crazy as they'd live with all kinds of inconveniences and then fix up the place before they sold it, so they never got to enjoy any of their improvements. I would consider doing both. I would move the dr table to the FR for more formal dining, and I would get a narrow rectangular table for the nook. I'd build in a bench against the window wall and add a bench to sit on on the opposite side. I'd also move the ceiling fan and add a light over the dr table....See MoreDining Table and Chandelier Placement
Comments (1)For me, it would be important to have the chandelier centered with the dining table. But, if you're planning on scooting the table over, make sure you have at least 24" for the chair to slide back (3' would be best). If you'd like to create more walk space, go ahead. As long as the table, chandelier and chairs looks balanced in the space....See Moredining table placement - kitchen or dining room?
Comments (13)I guessed at size of kitchen eating area so verify measurements. A 72x36 table will work but tight to get to slider door. A 60” table in formal dining room will work but I would create a more flexible room with this space. I have some ideas on that. I will post that shortly. The key thing about round tables is get trim but sturdy pedestal that is clear enough for chairs to push in and get chairs that aren’t too wide at front edge. That front chair edge is what limits number of chairs....See MoreDining table placement
Comments (21)It's possible the last sofa arrangement can work with some tweaks. This seems to be the only way you would have space for a dining table unless finding a narrow rectangular one. I would pull the 2 seater out some towards the patio door and also towards the kitchen/hallway, but make sure you have enough space to walk to the patio door. Then I would move the 3 seater closer to the 2 seater, but still across and with enough space to put a coffee table between and also get into the seats. I think this would then allow the Fireplace be more centered. You will have some space behind the 3 seater which you could use to allow walking space to the book shelf and also depending on space put a sofa table. In the L shape sofa arrangement you may be able to make it work with a narrow 30" table and a bench along the window side and no chairs across from the bench, but some on each end of the table. This is less than ideal though. Another option is to keep the 3 seater sofa and get 2 chairs to flank the sofa on each side and pull it closer to the FP to have more space for dining....See MoreJUSTIN MADDOX
