Comments (4)I can only see a strip of the ivory shag rug. However, I would suggest a much larger, almost room-size rug in a traditional or transitional pattern (try overstock.com or esale. rugs under those headings). With such a dark floor (which shows every bit of lint and dust) a large rug is advised for that alone. Look for an Oriental rug in warm colors which will look good with traditional and modern styles, especially if you choose a more geometric (and less floral) pattern. I recommend simple off-white curtain panels as window coverings. Color can be introduced with the rug, pillows and art on the walls. You also need some table and/or floor lamps for nighttime illumination. A blue and white Chinese-style ceramic lamp base will look good with the Oriental rug, and you can get both terracotta and blue pillows that have a pattern with white or off-white also in the mix....See MoreNeed help with family room update - please help me shop and paint!
Comments (2)I think your first task is to find a rug to set the tone for the room. You could have carpet bound in the size you need if you want to stay mono-chromatic. A tone on tone rug in cream, tan and chocolate might add a neutral but interesting touch. It only needs to be a couple of feet wider than the sofa unless you add new end tables that you want to sit on it too. I would keep it 12" away from the hearth though. Once the rug is found, if it has a variety of tones in it, use the darkest shade for your chairs. Be sure and take your tape measure with you so you can determine the right height on them. I don't think they should be taller than the sofa. I don't think the two chairs have to match, and it would be nice if one of them had a pattern to the fabric. Here is a mono-chromatic room, but with a touch of pattern and texture....See MoreNeed help with family room curtains and decorating advice.
Comments (12)Solid color for window treatments . overhead lighting is only one layer of lighting for a room you will need lamps maybe evn floor lamps and we need to know the size of the room the pieces of furniture you are having upholstered and their sizes. What is the tile in the picture of the fabric. I would for sure take the light out of the fan and mke sure all the lighting is LEDs ideally in 4000K to keep the colors you choose true in all times of day. I would choose a color from the rug, you will be getting, for the window coverings most likely drapes and make sure they are at leasy 2 1/2 x the width of the rod I have no idea how much natural light you get in the space but if quite a lot you will solard shades to protect your new floors and fabrics they will provide heat and UV protection and still allow you to keep the view during the day and also provide privacy during the day. Make sure you get a darker color for the shades in 10% they give the best protection and allow the best view. Do you have the spot for the TV already then please share that ....See MoreRelated Professionals
