So far...I've only lost stuff I didn't get watered...I did go hog wild at the Springhill sale, and several of the 3/99cents had one die out of the bunch, but how can you fault a 33 cent loss? And...the tree peony I had doubts about when I bought it from them bare root is GROWING! YEEHAW.... I guess the biggest scare is the thought that the person who was buying my house was going to bulldoze it all right away...but this deal is now in question.....but...I now have a garden in CT which is supposed to be on a house for sale with a green fish pond and so many weeds it will take several days to get it straightened out.... oh yeah....and the fact that I can't do everything at once. That's a huge disappointment..... Allison, don't give up on the agapanthus. My bareroot ones didn't bloom the first year...they don't like a lot of messing around and I think they have to get to a certain size before they bloom. Hang on and treat them nice and they may produce for you next year. I'm also glad to hear about your experience with they nymophilia...I wanted to try these and so I am glad to hear your appraisal. Oh yeah....poker primrose...they look so neat inthe pictures...but they are TINY. I think the whole poker is about half the size of my pinkie and about 1 1/2" long.....sort of disappointing, but it may redeem itself.

Greetings. I also have no specific advice for you, however I can tell that this is a huge ongoing disappointment for you. Very unfortunate for sure. I would like to offer several observations from my own experiences. It seems to me that this general attitude from your stepdaughter is not specifically related to your "Step" relationship with her, rather it is likely due to her poor attitudes and values/priorities towards life and family in general. This negative attitude could also be largely due to her own personality traits and the broad family dynamics that all families experience. I have seen this negative ignoring attitude situation with grown children directed towards their intact family biological parents, and certainly towards their siblings. Parenting is an inherently flawed process, and mature adult children will rise above the past, forgive their parents (step or not) and work to build good family relationships, if that is important to them. This ignoring behavior from the stepdaughter is probably not about you specifically, however you make a very convenient target. One thing I had to teach myself is that when I give a card or gift to someone, I would simply enjoy my internal feeling of love by giving the gift, and to not expect any loving response in return. A loving act in return would just be some unexpected and wonderful "icing on the cake," if you know what I mean. If you don't truly enjoy the giving of the gifts and cards to your stepdaughter, then there is no point in continuing to give them. You might leave this card/gift duty up to her other parents and just go on giving to the ones that will actively participate in life with you in a positive way. Leave the door open for your stepdaughter to mature, however life is short and I say enjoy the loving relationships you have with your other family and friends, and let stepdaughter chart her own course without your concern. Hi Romcorn, thank you. I make my own awesome mix - same volume of presoaked peat moss, pumice, small orchid bark, Gromulch, and Turface. In the mix I add about 1 handful Osmocote Plus and half Epsom salt for a 25 gallon pot. This mix is working pretty well for my fruit trees and vegetables. I always reuse it after each season so it gets easier after the initial effort. I don't have a regular fertilizer plan for tomatoes, :( I use liquid fertilizer of whatever I have on hand. The first application is when blossom starts and I try to remember to repeat at least three more times in a season. It seems to work well.
