Hydrangea 'Little Lime' - pruning now?

I had a LOT of flopping on this shrub this year. Lots of rain? The branches are really arched over and the blooms are on the ground. Someone suggested that a hard pruning I gave it in the spring may have contributed to it forming long branches that were too flexible? But I can't leave these long arched stems on the plant and simply remove the spent flowers, because I will have the flopped over shape next year. And some branches are damaged from the bending.

So, I am considering whether it would be better to prune all the branches off now, the same way I would in the spring. Thinking it would regrow leaves and go into the winter a smaller framework that I wouldn't have to prune in the spring. But, pruning it this late? Maybe it won't have time before a freeze to regroup?

Anyone have experience or thoughts? This is what it looked like earlier and it is worse now.
