Someone stole my satellite dish!

A very weird thing happened to me, apparently over the long weekend: Someone stole my satellite dish, and left a non-functioning one (same size, same service) in its place. The service guy was just over to my home because I realized Tuesday night the I had lost my internet service (rural wireless). After a lot of investigation, it turns out that the dish mounted on the front of my house is not the one that the service guy installed a year ago - it has a different serial number. What's more, it's pointed in the wrong direction. It seems that someone switched out the dishes using (what I'm told is) proprietary equipment, taking my working one and leaving behind a non-functional one that they mounted haphazardly, to hide their crime.

Who would do such a thing? Did a different service guy accidentally break one he was supposed to install, and so he took mine instead? Did an ex-employee need a newer model dish, and still had the equipment necessary to unscrew it?

Bizarre.
