Hey Amberleys! You have a really lovely open space, if this was my own home I would move the sofa so that it partitions the dining room and living area, facing the french doors so that you can relax while admiring your garden. You can then place an entertainment unit or large sideboard against the wall where your sofa currently is, you can get some really pretty ones which you can place your CD's into and stereo on top. An old farmhouse display would look lovely - depends all on what kind of style you like. I would then place the playpen in the corner where your stereo is at the moment when not in use and a storage unit for toys against the same wall - Ikea have some really great units for toy storage. Hi @tangerinedoor, thanks for your comment! As it's a real estate photo, I agree with you on the photoshopping - it looks a lot brighter in the photo than in real life, at the moment it is on the dark side and has a yellow tinge to it due to the amber glass. There is also another section of this room not visible in the photo, that you will see in the floor plan. We are awaiting settlement, so unfortunately I'm not able to post any further images but was hoping for inspiration in the meantime.

What are you willing/able to do? What, specifically, are you unhappy with? Are you considering replacing the furniture? Paint the walls? Without more information it's difficult for me to make suggestions. However, I'd strongly suggest moving that chair away from the draperies/window. And also change the paint color. Is the room as small as it looks in these pictures? If so, that furniture, in my opinion, is far too large. When you say "Beautify my living room again" (again being the word I'm referring to), what did it look like before when you considered it beautiful? I think you've got a lot to work with. It would also probably be a good idea for you to post this also in the Home Decorating Forum.

@3onthetree I have added full floor plans to original post -Front door is the one near the stairs. -Stairs are actually 17, if you count the 2nd floor as a step :) -9ft ceilings. -2nd story is kid zone: 4 kids bedrooms, 1 Jack & Jill bath and a playarea -Wedge for stairs measures 25" to its lowest point on the wall. (Picture below) -I'd love to put the stairs somewhere else, but can't figure where. -No basement, on slab. -I'd love to utilize that twin closet area, walls can be taken down, ceilings in both closets have the same height as the main floor.
