Your planting/design strategy: clumps, repeating, singles?
Comments (37)Hmm. All three, depending. The garden is front of my house is very small (4' by 6') so almost every single plant in it is a single. Here's a picture from a few years ago. In there is one peony, one nepeta (catmint), one Siberian iris, one lady's mantle, one phlox, one geranium, one lamb's ear, one campanula. It's changed a bit over the years, but the basics remain the same - single color scheme, one plant. In this garden, there are groupings (the helenium and the agastache) and repetition (the geum on either side of the black mulch path and the lady's mantle which is repeated through throughout the length of the border)...See MoreMore rebloom from the past few days....
Comments (19)Thanks all....more rebloom from today. Just look at the scapes and buds on CH. I counted 7 rebloom scapes. CF was new this spring...had good bloom and now rebloom. This one just never stops..a little beauty for sure. Got some Munsons reblooming too, but I'll put them in a separate thread. Jan...See MoreA few more reblooms (pics)
Comments (12)Thanks Lrae! I love purple, can you tell? :o) Ellie - Ivory Finesse is fast becoming a favorite. I love the dual lavender edge and the substance of the flower. The Ivory part of the flower is just that... almost a true white. Glad you enjoyed it!! Ed, this one just started to bloom, can you believe it? Somehow the late gene expressed itself in this one - that or it was just having a slow year! :o) The others all started blooming a long time ago, and actually are already all finished. I would be happy to give any of your babies homes! Jean - thanks!! I like it too... I didn't have anything else like it in the garden. I am sure Ed appreciates your kindness as well! :o) Chris - I am glad you enjoyed it... I sure do. It was one of the few that when I went to Jack Carpenter's, I thought, I just HAVE to get that one. Somehow he must have known, because he wouldn't budge on the price of it!! Granted, there were only 3 clumps left when I got there. It really is a beauty in person. okbt - thanks for the kind words!! Juliet - you sure have a good eye. Ed seedling is from Indian Giver! (x Catherine Woodbery)...See MoreMore rebloom scapes coming up :-)
Comments (7)I think next year may be a huge disappointment compared to this year. I spotted a new scape on Mary's Baby yesterday. This is September folks, and Mary's Baby is in part shade underneath my back porch to keep the rust at bay (protecting it from sprinklers/rain). No rust so far (and I do mean so far), but a new scape in this unlikeliest of places. Can someone explain all this to me? Why so many reblooms this year?.....Maryl...See Moreorganic_kitten
