Gravel & rock patio
Comments (5)OK Laura, so I'll just say upfront that I am not a gravel/rock person. The gravel you are talking about is it pea gravel or bigger? If it is the bigger one I'd suggest putting some pea gravel in and pounding it with one of those compacting vibrating machines. If the gravel is pea gravel use a sand for interlocking bricks (a coarse sand) and using the compacter for the same method as previous. Also it may not completely solve the problem. Let us know what you end up doing and post a before and after photo. Love, Jules...See MoreRock and Brick Patio Construction
Comments (1)Sounds more like the patio needs a good rinse and maybe another acid wash if it's appearing dull. As for the pockets and grooves, that sounds like natural stone. I've never heard of muriatic acid doing that to a stone surface. I fail to see how acid would turn red brick multi-colored. Comments (39)In my last home, on the advice of a landscape architect, we used pami pebbles for our aggregate walkway/patio and had the concrete mix tinted a medium brown-reddish color. I didn't find it hard to walk on with bare feet because the pami pebbles are so smooth. We had our backyard patio installed a few years later by a different company and was talked out of using the same materials. Never liked the patio as much as the front yard - in looks or bare-foot comfort....See MoreBLUESTONE PATIO off of the house. Over concrete or over bed of rocks?
Comments (2)I think you might need to find some new contractors :-) A skilled and experienced masonry contractor should know how to grade and seat a patio so that water drains away from the structure regardless of what the surface treatment is....See More- 10 months agolast modified: 10 months ago
