A medium gray roof color would look good with your brick and wouldn't be as severe looking as black. The darker the roof the more heat it will absorb. It sounds like your short-term priorities are the roof replacement and maybe some landscaping. If you want shade in the front you need to plant a tree or two as soon as possible as it takes a long time for a tree to grow big enough to make a difference as far as shade. If there is a garden center near you, pay for a landscape design that you can implement over time to spread out the cost. It's an investment, but it will pay off for your enjoyment and will enhance the value of your home.

a Tan/Brown architectural shingle is more subtle than a Black, and would soften the look.

Are you not repainting? an all over color would make it look more refined. is the botttom cinder block? Lighten the door so it shows the entrance to the home.

I agree that you should remove all of the hedging and leave the angled sidewalk to the door open to improve the visibility of the the entrance. I agree that the paint on the first and second floor should match. And, yes, I would replace the columns with fewer, more substantial ones and place the one further toward the outside so the door is centered. A lighter colored door will be great.

I love the sharp contrast of a dark gray or black roof on a red brick house. I like the wood-look brown on this inspiration photo on the garage door, but more of a mahogany color would blend better with your brick color.

What everyone has said, but I'd use $$ to get a new door. Those builder doors don't go with your house.

Yes, I want to paint as soon as the roof is done. I like the idea of one color. Bottom of house is concrete block with engineered stone and textured stucco. Was thinking of using medium/dark grey for the house color with white trim, hence the darker shingles for the roof. Thanks everyone for all your help!

You have a covered porch for shade...get outdoor upholstered sofa, area rug and a coffee table.

I think I would pick natural wood for the shutters and then decide what's best if after house was painted.

Ordinarily I don't like trimmed hedges like yours but I would leave them. Give them some fertilzier and love. Put a nice bed of plantings down front near the street end of the driveway and add a 2d lampost with your address on it.

Last time I was house hunting I looked at so many house like yours I have kind of a nostalgic feeling for them. Wait a little bit, don't alter the look, and people will start calling it "classic" .

Changed my mind about unpainted wood. These are the shutters and window box look I'd go for.
