I am a newbie to composting. I do not have a bin or a tumbler. I just through them in a remote cornor and hire some earthworms to get the job done. I do not buy them, because it runs against the very principle of composting, that supposed to be natural not by BUT THIS ,BUY THAT! wHEN i FIND SOME IDLE WORMS i PICK THEM UP AND THROW THEM IN.WELCOME! Micro organisms are too too slow for me,I don't have much to live. That is why I hire worms and try to reward them and be nice to them. But I often find them hiding away and sleeping on the job (way down at the bottom). I guess they have a mind of their own. They run away from my compost pile sometimes and find them hiding under a big heavy rock. But one thing I like about them though that they won't bite you or chew up your plants roots. I think they desrve to be free and that is why I don't put them a slippery walled box, not to be able to get away. In my book (or compost pile) worm are free. So are the birds.

Hello laschai, The greenhouse is going to add a couple of growing zones to your location, depending on what zone you're in and how you insulate it, i.e. double wall, bubble wrap, etc.. Many plants require a certain amount of cold temperatures each year to produce fruit and berries, and they need pollinators to set fruit. For that sort of thing, why not fence in a location and cover the top with bird netting when it's needed. Like when the berries are almost ready until after harvest, then take down the netting and save for next year. Also, wrens are seed eaters, but territorial, so if you put up wren houses, they would chase off the birds that would eat your berries. Or, maybe your stuff will be so tasty, they'll try a nibble now and then. For vining plants, like pumpkins, also your peppers and your peas, growing 2 kinds that close together will result in cross-pollination, which, if you intend to save your seeds, will not be what you desire over the long term. Personally, I would grow vining plants on a trellis. What I did in my greenhouse last year was to attach chicken wire from the raised beds all the way up to the rafters, that's 9 feet in my greenhouse. My squash vines grew up to 19 feet long, they went all the way up to the rafters and cascaded over the other side and down onto the ground. It was an impressive sight. I had problems with chipmunks coming in, and also with stray cats. I bought some fake snakes and laid them around. They worked. For my next project, I was planning on doing more raised beds in the front yard, and bending some EMT for mini-hoop houses that would extend my growing season for greens without taking up space in my main greenhouse The benefit of my building a wooden frame and using a raised bed is that it gives me a place to attach the row cover to on one side, so it doesn't blow away and I can store it in place, instead of trying to fold it up and move it. Hope this gives you some ideas.

When we were building, we put our house on the market and sold it the first week. The buyers needed to close within 90 days or lose their quoted mortgage rate so we closed in September although our house wasn’t going to be ready until January. We rented our house back from them but here’s the deal with that. Unlike a normal renter/tenant agreement, we would have been responsible if anything broke, such as furnace, stove, etc. When January came, our new house was not even close to being ready but the owners wanted their house. It was hard to find housing for less than a year lease but we were lucky our builder had another development of apartments that we rented for five months until our house was ready. The stress was incredible, moving twice during that time and we had to put most of our furniture in storage. This time, we just bought a condo and now have to list our home. I’m not sure which is more stressful. I wish you luck on your move.
