Organizing Walk-In Coat Closet
Comments (1)Your ideas are promising, but I also love to play with spaces, so here's some of mine - What about first putting up shelves on the 2.5' wall on the left of the door to help that clutter, maybe with hooks under the bottom one (3' high?) for umbrellas, or a stand there. Then move the coats right to the back along the 3 & 2' walls (in one line vs separated by a door) with shelving above. On the 4' right wall would be a big organizer thingy, either open or closed, for maybe larger items that need storage (aside from what's in there now), and with proper handy racks for shoes - off the floor....See MoreMBR Walk-In Closet: Need Ideas & Pics
Comments (4)First, measure your clothes to determine how much short. medium and long hanging space you need. Rather than one set of drawers under the hanging rods, have a stack of drawers. Instead of bifold doors, have double doors. You can mirror the inside and use both doors to get a good look at your front and back. Here's an example of a closet with double doors. These doors are very wide. I have 18" wide doors, for a 36" wide opening, which is plenty. Inexpensive door mirrors are around 14-16" wide and 60" long, so they can fit easily on the inside of the closet door....See MoreThere's no Closet Forum, so....Can We talk Walk In Closets?
Comments (21)Lots of really good light is necessary. Trying to differentiate between the navy blue pants and the black pants and then trying to find socks that match is hard without good lighting. I'm always having to bring my stuff out of the closet into the bedroom where the light is better to figure it out. I have a mix of hangers - padded ones for blouses, clipped ones for skirts, my Dh likes wooden ones for suit jackets and I like really strong ones for my jeans - and those are really hard to find these days. Costco often sells nice packages of hangers. Think about what you are storing other than clothes - shoes, purses (I have a deeper shelf at the top for purses so as to keep those pesky straps under control and they are in cubbies that hold about 4 purses each), accessories such as scarves, belts....See MoreWalk-in closet thoughts
Comments (34)Visualize opening the doors to the Master Suire and before you is a amazing focal wall, with organized storage done in a decorative manner, and the bed centered with calm bedding. Cool lighting on each side with individual switches for each side of bed for reading lights. A great decorative "fandelier" over the end of the bed for air circulation and attractive decorative touch. A peek side view of a great large piece of art with water influences and soft, calm colors. A contrasting bed skirt across the foot of the bed for extra foot warmth when needed or just an accent that can be draped over the bench at bedtime. Endless configurations for the "storage wall system" that meets your every need. Additional lighting could be incorporated in it too for soft night time ambience or daytime cleaning. No recessed lighting as it is harsh and not soothing. The storage "feature" wall could be done in wood or painted materials, just depends on the budget. Can you "see" it! Awesome and functional!...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
