It's going to be a spidery fall I fear....
Comments (4)Lisa, Thanks for the warning. LOL Did you know that in a grassland area (similar to where I live), studies have found from 1 million to 2 million spiders per acre? I don't know what the number would be like in a developed neighborhood, but surely not that high? Spiders are basically good because they eat other insects. Unfortunately, far too many of us here in Oklahoma seem to frequently encounter Black Widows and Brown Recluses. I'm not a huge fan of spiders in the house (or porch or garage), but I like seeing their webs in the yard, garden, pasture or woods. We used to have a lot of tarantulas here, but I see fewer and fewer every year it seems. I use an organic product called Cobweb Eliminator to keep them from building webs in the tornado shelter, garage and on the porches. It basically interferes with their web's ability to adhere to the surfaces upon which the Cobweb Eliminator is sprayed. One spraying usually lasts about 3 months on the porches and a bit longer in the garage or tornado shelter. Dawn...See MoreHi, it’s me again...”I’m living in an antique store....”.

(She was new to us, British, with a plummy accent and lots of style.) But she was horrified at the thought that we would replace such a quality piece. Along the same lines, Prince Charles apparently wears suits with visible mending (apparently his tailor keeps the cutting scraps, for future repairs). I am constantly amazed that people think that a kitchen that was beautiful 30 years ago is suddenly ugly because it is oak. And, heaven forbid, with cathedral arch raised panels. How can they be ewww when they were wow?...See MoreUnfortunately, I Was Wrong
Comments (62)I've been buying TP online, by the case, for years. I don't use paper towels much so I buy a multi-roll package locally. A single roll will last a couple of months. I have never used the cleaning wipes but bought a single container back in March or April. Have used maybe 4 or 5 wipes out of the container. Already had a can of Lysol spray pre Covid. Still lots left in the can. Mostly just DH & I here at home so there is little reason to think any bad bugs have invaded. Bowl or ice cream bucket of hot water & Dawn plus a cleaning rag or a spritz of 409 and I'm satisfied that I've knocked back any lurking nasties. When I do go out, I used hand sanitizer, a mask, store provided cleaning wipe for the handle of the grocery cart... Don't touch any door handles if it can be avoided--or shrink my arm up in a jacket sleeve and use the cloth as a barrier--or use just two fingers on the door handle on the part of the handle that is seldom touched by anyone (next to where it is attached to the door--not the grabby part.). Hand sanitizer when I get back to my car and then wash hands immediately when I get home. I actually started doing the door handle dance routine several years ago to avoid getting a cold or flu-bug. So it is an ingrained habit now. (Not rubbing my eyes was the hardest habit to break.) Seems to have worked because I very, very seldom pick up a cold/ flu since starting to take those precautions....See MoreUpdating Solid Wood Table with Unfortunate Finish
Comments (15)I love upcycling old furniture. My advise to you is keep the tabletop wood. sand all the varnish off and get it back to it orginal wood. paint the rest of the table and chairs with a couour that suits your room. sand them by hand first to make them feel rough then primer them a couple of times before adding the top colour coats. give the wood surface of the table a coat of quick drying varnish (colour of your choice) once dry, then gently sand wipe down with a slightly damp cloth then start again until desired affect. but chair cushions from a good home store and you won't be dissapointed...See Morenicholsworth Z6 Indianapolis
