tar paper liner in wood boxes?
Comments (9)Blueberry, I consider it common knowledge that tar-paper and other creosote and cresol containing materials are toxic. I don't have a list of resources for you, but I'll do a quickie search and post a good link. Yes, the water run-off from a roof can contain hazardous chemicals. I'd use that water only for ornamental plants. Contaminate laden water is one way that these chemicals can enter the body...by drinking it or simply touching it. You'd be exposing yourself to the chemicals in cresols (like methyl phenols) and creosote on a chronic basis by using it to line your veggie containers. Did you know that creosote is a well-known carcinogen? Check out the attached link. I've only skimmed it, but it appears to be factual and thorough. I also did a search using 'tar paper toxicity' as my search words, which resulted in quite a bit of helpful information. More that we all want to know, probably, lol! Comments (13)Now, why didn't I think of that? The Haggis Meatloaf thing. It's not easy getting sheep stomachs these days. Did you know that the Real Thing uses the lungs and all? Canny people, we Scots. We don't waste much! I've had a Scottish penfriend for the last 50 years or so. She sings in a Gaelic Choir which has toured Canada and parts of Europe. I rang her one year (when I was rich, a long time ago), and was horribly disappointed that she spoke much the same English as I do - not a trace of Robbie Burns in her accent!...See MoreCrop rotation and vermiculture for containers
Comments (56)Would we tell someone that loved painting to give it up because we thought they had no talent? Some of you might, but you really shouldn't. Personal happiness and freedom have more value than some of you realize. It's their life let them have it. In words sung by Whitney Houston in her song, The Greatest Love of All. "Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be." "If I fail, if I succeed, at least I lived as I believed". I look forward to failure on my road of happiness and I wish happiness for you all....See More- 3 years ago
