Are you doing a high ceiling in your family room..cathedral, etc.
Comments (14)Our current living room dimensions are almost exactly the same. I think it looks good, but much of the "visual height" comes from wide openings to foyer and kitchen with transoms above each to 8'. I also have my window treatments started closer to the ceiling to elongate the window. If I can get the toys picked up enough to take a pic I will post one. If you can get 10' I would - that extra foot does alot for the room....See Morehelp i'm losing all of my heat to the vaulted ceiling
Comments (9)Heated floors would have been the first and best solution, but that's difficult to retrofit on a concrete floor. Second best is to plumb in a couple of powered circulation ducts, even if you have to encase them in soffits. They will pull the heat down from the ceiling through the ductwork and exhaust it at floor level. Third best option is to put back the ceiling fans. The fourth option is to use the portable fans, which as you've discovered, is noisy and unattractive. Fifth best option is heated slippers and an extra sweater....See MoreHow do you deal w high ceilings in kitchen?
Comments (28)desertsteph: Thanks for posting those pics - what a unique collection! From your screen name I gather you live in the desert? Jterrilynn: Cruising is a great way...then you can get off the boat at each port & explore. Valdez is a huge tourist attraction so be sure & choose a cruise that has Valdez as a port of call. Even though I hate the idea of being on the water, I'd rather do that than drive the 100's of road miles. With all the RV's on the road, it can drive you bonkers. Oh, & when someone up here says, "It's just up the road a piece.", ask, "OK, just exactly how many miles are you talking about?" Our 'up a piece' can be in the 100's LOL Hope you go on that cruise! :) I know what you mean about getting the 'rejected' screen. I've had to fight with that, too. I usually have to change the title of the thread to make it work. laurainlincoln: Sap buckets - how charming! Patina can really mask the dust, eh? :) Dusting is one of my most hated chores...I'd much rather clean a dirty bathroom! Thanks, everyone, for your great input. :)...See MoreTray vs. flat ceiling in Master Bedroom (vaulted an option too)
Comments (59)@njseventyfour I meant put the two adjacent in the corner - it looks like your chimney is to the right of that first window, correct? Couldn't you put the second window to the left of the remaining window? Might make for a nice spot to sit....See Morechispa
