Help needed with corner of living room
Comments (21)Sj - The chair is so good with everything in the room! I do think it needs its front feet at least, on the rug. Is there a way to pull the rug over to the chair? The chair looks like it should stay where it is but the rug should move - KWIM? Do you have another side table that is bigger to use between the sofa and the chair? The one you have looks good but doesn't fill the area enough. Maybe two of the same but side by side. And to add a larger floor lamp...maybe something quite tall and on a tri-pod with a drum shade? Great room - of course now I want a complete tour......See MoreNewbie help with fence corner
Comments (10)My first thought was also to enlarge the bed, but you did say it was 10 x 10 - I wonder if it just looks smaller because of the perspective of the photo. The grasses will provide multi-season interest. If you want to stick closely to the design you posted, it does look like there are daylilies in the middle ring. this is easy and difficult at the same time, lol. Daylilies are easy to come by, easy to maintain, etc., but there are thousands of choices, which is where the difficulty comes in! You might want to pick a color choice, and then go with a couple of different varieties - early blooming, mid-season, and late-blooming, in the same or complementary colors. If you are really overwhelmed, it might not be a bad idea to go with annuals for the outer layer, at least for the first year while you live with it and get more ideas. This was a good discussion of edging plants here on this forum - http://forums2.gardenweb.com/discussions/2807702/border-patrol-plants?n=28 if you need some food for thought. Perhaps some small boxwood or junipers for the edge; these would be evergreen and it would look nice in winter as well. Don't forget you can interplant spring-blooming bulbs as well. Smaller bulbs like crocus can perk up the bed in early spring, and you could even plant some daffodils in there too, which are good partners with daylilies if you go the daylily route. I wouldn't feel pressured to plant this fall, if you are not ready. Conversely, if you do plant and change your mind next year, it's not a big deal. I think half the fun of gardening is changing one's mind and changing one's garden! One last thought. If you don't want to make that bed bigger, perhaps along the short side of the fence you could put in a small border leading to the main bed, just so it doesn't look quite so "plopped in" in the corner. You could make use of the fence for clematis and other climbing plants as well. Good luck! Keep us posted with what you decide and your progress! Comments (0)Help me with some ideas to decorate this bland corner to get a rustic look but with bold bright colors that pop. The couch cover is obviously temporary and oversized as we got a new small couch and have cats. Give me tips on color and furniture layout and feel free to edit the photo. For now I'm only decorating this corner. I appreciate nice and constructive help especially :) Thank you!...See Moreneed help with this corner
Comments (12)Can you move the rug down and find a wide low bench for that corner? Remove what's there now. I know you didn't ask, but a cozier layout where the furniture better connects would help take the emphasis off the TV, which is oversized for that spot. Consider moving both sofas closer together about a foot with more "breathing room" behind each one. This would create a conversational grouping for you. Then turn the coffee table the other way. This would also open up the bay window, such a lovely feature of the room that's somewhat blocked by the sofa. Tall, beautiful plants would add a lot to your living room....See Morekims9598
