Poll - how far are you living from your construction site........
Comments (40)We're about 1400 miles away. We began building in December and have made probably 5 trips out to the build site. Each time we go we spend two days meeting with different subs, making choices and always have a great relaxing dinner with our builder and his wife. We have been incredibly fortunate with our builder and plan to be in the house the last week of June. Comments (9)stacy; I'm confused by the light planning as well. This thread has helped me, as well as previous threads on simular topics. You asked whether people got "lighting consultants". They were very happy to tell me that if I brought in my plans -- even rough plans, with pictures of my current lighting, they would help me figure out what I needed. So yes, contact a local lighting store and they will likely help you out!...See MorePoll! What is your style? Vote!

Comments (46)I say cash and credit card because I saved up the cash and thenI use a travel rewards credit card and EVERYTHING possible goes on the card and it gets paid off in full, every month, without fail. Ours was a mostly DIY remodel so the costs were almost all supplies, appliances, construction material. Everything went on the card, everything was paid off each month. We paid for airline tickets for 2 separate trips with the rewards from the kitchen remodel!!!...See MoreDebra Clayton
