How much did you pay for your bathroom tile?
Comments (9)Well I will go first. We did 7 bathrooms. One of those has 2 of everything ( 6 boys share). 5 of those baths had full tile surrounds, pebble shower floors, hex bath floors. Each shower had its own unique deco band to give each its own appropriate look. The 2 other baths are powder rooms and have no tile. All inclusive grout, tile, deco bands, etc. it was the bargain price of 11,000.00. I forgot that the price also included the extensive subway back splashes in the kitchen. Now it may seem like a lot, but for what we did it is a good price in my opinion and many others. I could have easily spent 3 times this amount but did do some stock tile like the Daltile subway, at less than 3.00 per sq. ft. it was really a bargain. Here are some pics. I also included kitchen back splashes just so you could get the scope of how much tile we bought. I must say I have 10 cases of subway left over so that makes it even less costly as I will probably sell it....See MoreHow much did you pay for your travertine in MA?
Comments (3)This won't help you much as I am on the west coast. I paid $2.69 sq/ft for an Interceramic product called Kremna Standard; a lower grade of travertine. Installation was not priced out separately, but for 320 sq it was only $900 more than if I had chosen ceramic or porcelain tile. This included a 4" travertine toe kick at the bottom of all the cabinets as well as the baseboards. My stone guy is a true artist, did a perfect installation with the smallest grout lines possible, and used a very expensive sealer. I love the way it highlighted our fill areas. It is gorgeous, has a soft sheen, and you always see something "new" in the floor. My stone guy said that people use the Myths of Travertine to bump up prices....See MoreHow Long did your kitchen remodel take?
Comments (34): ( Forever and ever.... We started last May it feels like longer than a year. It seems like it is never ending. My DH just told me he does not like the crown molding and wants to hire someone to come in redo our ceiling and crown molding. I would say I am about 85% done. The kitchen is functional, I have had friends over but there are little details that still need to be ironed out. And sometimes I get sad about it. And other times I remind myself that I have a good excuse to visit GardenWeb kitchens. ~boxerpups...See MoreWeek 149 - How do you set the budget and pay for your remodel?
Comments (42)Yes to so much of this. My husband loves spreadsheets (I prefer paper and pencil), and tracks every penny spent with our projects. He'll also estimate costs when we get to that point, to help us set a budget and decide where we want to spend our money. As I stated previously, we are generally savers. Even though I know that is the right path, it can sometimes be frustrating. It can seem that other people spend foolishly, and then continue to get bailed out. When we did FAFSA this year for our oldest going off to college, they expected us to be able to spend all of our college savings on her, nevermind that she has 5 younger siblings that we're saving for as well. (Thankfully, she'll only use a small portion of her college fund.) If we had saved nothing, we probably would have only had to spend a few thousand out of pocket. I try not to think about it too much though. :( On the topic of cheese...I gave our daughter some Sartori Montamore cheese when we moved her into her dorm. She's a generation removed from WI, but it's in her blood! ;)...See MoreFeatherBee
