Comments (12)From what you wrote, I assume, it would do well in my area, too. Would you second that? *** Well, it is excellent in the San Fernando Valley, and excellent in Camarillo (Coastal Ventura County). So yes, I suspect that it would. Can you describe the fragrance a little bit more? How strong is it? What kind of fragrance is it for example citrus etc.? **** I'm not good at that. There is an edge of citrus, but something spicier, too. And last but probably most important: How can I obtain this plant, if it is not in commerce and I can't go to the Sacramento Cemetery rose sale? *** We are only now beginning to get a few plants large enough for propagation. You know, it takes ten years, more or less, from breeding f a new rose to introduction. With a new-ish Foundling, it still takes time before we can make little plants and cuttings available to sales and charity auctions. Jeri...See MoreWhich white hybrid tea?
Comments (9)Tineke is a good pure white HT that's good for cutting (it started off as a florist rose). Only a moderately tall grower with above average resistance to Thrips damage (which is important if you have serious Thrips issues in your area). Comments (8)I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm the only person on the planet who is not smitten with PJP2. It does bloom heavily with faster than average repeat, and the scent is terrific. To answer one of your questions, I don't find it to be a bit more susceptible to thrips than other whites. The blossoms produced on my plant are rather small when conditions are benign, and get progressively smaller as heat and humidity rise here in eastern NC. After two full years, it has yet to produce a single bloom that I'd care to cut and bring in. In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say that my PJP2 (from J&P) is the smallest bareroot I've ever received from any source (think band). Consequently, I've grown it in a large container where it has now reached a respectable size. My intent is to transfer it to the garden at pruning time '09. Perhap it will come into its own then. 'Course, there's always the possibility that I simply received a dud plant to begin with. I seem to recall that Ceterum (who used to post here regularly) had some very positive things to say about 'Tineke' & its performance in her hot, humid southern garden. BTW, has anyone heard from Ceterum? Really miss her posts....See MoreMystery White Hybrid Tea
Comments (2)Okay, this is going to sound so dumb...as soon as I went out to take a photo of the buds, I happened to turn over the tag and found the name on the back! O_o All the other tags have the name on the front AND back, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Why not put that one on the front, too??? The rose is 'Pascali'. :)...See MoreBenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14)
